    How are the odds on forecasts and tricasts calculated?

    Not 100% sure but a very rough rule is mutiply the odds of the winner by the 2nd and it won't be to far awar from that.

    It's a dividend from the Tote, they take the total amount gambled on them, take their cut and divide the remainder by the number of winning bets..

    That's the Tote forecast or the dual forecast ,
    the CSF or computer straight forecast ( that's the one that you'll generally get offered in betting shops ) is generated via a very complicated mathamathcal formula that takes quite a few factors into hand , viz. the S.P.s of the horses involved , the overround , number of runners , draw bias etc.
