Several people have mentioned to me that you need a "special digital antenna" to receive DTT signal.

Just in case there's any doubt, let me clarify.

TOTAL RUBBISH! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DIGITAL ANTENNA.

As mentioned in an earlier thread here by Watty: "Signals for Digital TV use the same Aerials, dishes or cable and actually are Analogue RF."
I couldn't have put it better myself.

So, dont be fooled into buying something branded as a "digital antenna" if your current one provides you with good clear TV3/TG4 signals. Chances are, it will be fine for DTT too.

Aye I brought home my PS3 for xmas to my parents house and just plugged the existing aerial into it and scanned (play tv scan as it uses Ps3 over HDMI). Digital tv immediately! Just plugged it back into tv after and parents had terrestrial tv back.

This information has been posted regularly. The earliest post I could find with this info was 2004.

Perhaps a Sticky with this info would save a lot of repetition.

I refer you here PARAS - Professional Aerial Riggers Against The Sharks
    The ‘digital aerial’ myth
The myth says that you need a special aerial for digital. There is no such thing as a digital aerial. All aerials receive digital and analogue signals.
