    Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer

Heavy Rain is a cinematic and evolving thriller from Quantic Dream, the developer behind the critically acclaimed Fahrenheit. Dealing with a range of adult themes, the game revolves around a sophisticated plot and strong narrative threads that explore a complex moral proposition. You assume the role of multiple characters, with very different backgrounds, motivations and skills, in a world shaped by Bending Storylines - a dynamic narrative design where your actions and decisions will shape your story.
An evolving thriller in which you shape the story
Mature content, reflecting a realistic world setting that explores powerful themes
Stunning graphics, animation and technology support an emotionally driven experience
Accessible gameplay via intuitive, contextual controls and interface

    Some trailers/gameplay below:

It looks stunning. Fahrenheit was a terrific game, and this looks like it will raise the bar for future games.
Release day buy for me, getting tired of MW2.
    Anyone else getting it?
    Need convincing?
    It has bewbs in it..

Hell yeah, i am so hyped about it. CAnt wait for it to come out. Hell, i might even preorder this one. I have to say, the controls and character animations might be a bit stiff though. I am still looking forward though. Heres a 10 minute ingame gameplay video. Enjoy

You played Heavy Rain Already? Are you a game developer/journalist or something?

Are you allowed to talk about it? If so, give us your opinion...

    journo

only played early code, not quite interactive enough

think point and click, but in 3d, and more awkward

i will say though, that theres SERIOUS potential there, and issues may well have been sorted between the old code and the final version. either way the story is gonna be epic, and the ambition behind it will certainly change the gaming scene in many respects

I played Fahreinheit recently and thought it was a great game although i played it on the PC and found it tricky using the keyboard to follow the button sequences. I'm actually more excited about playing this after playing fahrenheit.

Really looking forward to this game, might even get the Special Edition if the game gets good enough reviews (on hmv.com it's the same price as the standard edition, under 49 Euro including postage)

Some of the ideas in this game make me really curious, but I also fear interactivity will be limited and the central goal of 'trying to bridge the gap between movies and games' is a deeply flawed one.

However, the sheer ambition of this experiment probably makes me want to play this more than any of the bigger releases coming up soon. In fairness, I know the basic product I'm going to be getting with, say, Bioshock 2 or Mass Effect 2. Heavy Rain has the potential to surprise and perhaps advance the artform. It may be a failure, but if it is I'm hoping it is an interesting failure. If reviews are positive, this will be a day one purchase.

I was watching some gameplay videos of this game on youtube. If you look closely you will find that the character animations of some of the NPC characters (probably the ones that are not important to the main storyline) is horrible. That being said, the character animations of the 4 main characters ( and the ones of certain NPC's like the shopkeeper in that shop demo) are really awesome.

All the trailers deal mainly with just the 4 main characters, there are only instances in the trailers where you get to see the NPC's and the animations for the ones that you get to see are crap.

I have such high hopes for this game. I really hope it doesnt dissapoint.

it looks good. i think the mall crowds look good as individuals to be fair - haven't looked at em like individually, in depth, but i think we have to take into account for there to be lifelike individuals there's no cut n pasting character builds en masse.. which reminds me why SH2 probs still holds the record for lifelike characters, no-one else actually inhabited silent hill! can see by way of looks/gameplay it will be interesting alright. certainly different.. - that'll be the only merits it probably needs to win over reviewers, n probs us
