What's your primary objective in an apocalypse?

The discussions of what you'd do about children after the fact raises the question of what your primary objective is after the (or any apocalypse) happens. I have a definitive objective which is to ensure the survival of the human race.

I'm working on an article for ZDAI that shows how a town or even a block within a city can be turned into a walled city to live within. My entire survival plan does revolve around the survival of the species and working as a community. Anything less is a sure fire end to humanity. I'm also full sure that this will be the norm (banding together to survive) and we won't see people killing each other just to survive. It goes against human nature and any examples that contradict this is a rarity.

my primary objective is my own survival,then that of my group,then reclaiming an area as our own and finally humanitarian aid[helping others with safehouses,seeding communties in the region if possible]

Persoanlly,I think we need to accept the fact the people are going to die,that may not be a bad thing.I'm going to sound very nazi-like but think of the apocolypse as distilling the human gene pool.Not hat I'll turf people out to feed the hordes,but if you can't pull your own weight[with skills/survival] then they won't be any use.

just to reenforce the point: I won't kill humans for supplies etc. But if your dumb enough to get yourself killed or overwhelmed then your no good to me.

The fittest surviving is pointless (based on the concept of that saying) if there's no one for them to reproduce with.

My primary objective is ensuring the survival of those who would be of use rebuilding society. My secondary objective is my own survival.

Maintaining my Sanity would be the number one.

Cabin fever could be an issue if your cooped up

or a combination of extreme Paranoia and PTSD if yer on the move

either of these could be as deadly as the Z's

My primary objective is to reach the safehouse alive and un-followed.

It is a small house on the back side of a mountain with 1 road up the mountain, a fresh spring for water and very few people who know how to even find it. All of those few people who know about it have reaching and securing the safehouse as their primary objective.

Once we're there, we assess the situation and draw up new priorities to fit the details of the emergency.
