There is indeed. DU Orchestral Society. Look out for their stand in Freshers Week next September.

In the current season, they are performing Brahms Symphony No. 3, Arnold Clarinet Concerto, and Debussy "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune".

I'm sure they'd be happy to have you, drop by Regent House on a Tuesday between 7 and 9, that's when we rehearse.

Wait, are you in Trinity yet or just thinking of coming next year?

    oh cool,
I'm just doing my leaving cert this year!
So is it people from all different courses?
and is everyone a very high standard who plays?

There's a mix of standard, there are a good few people from the NYSOI, or people who have played in it before, myself included, and then there are a lot of people who have recently started, or aren't that serious and just want to have fun and make friends.

Hi! Just wondering if anyone knows if I would be able to rent an instrument for the year? I play cello but don't own my own, can I rent through the university or would have to try and find a private company prepared to rent? Thanks!
