I'm greatly uneasy about a thread like this because it's so hard for me to know how true it might be. I'm not trying to cast doubt on anyone here, just saying that these threads are difficult because if they aren't true they can contribute to the problem.
It's not the first thread on this subject so I'm certainly going to leave it open and ask for some confirmation asap please.

whether the OP is accurate or not needs clarification but the company that owns the courses is in administration EASSDA

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/northern_ireland/8362938.stm

the piece says that the courses aren't affected but the guy that owns them seems to have a lot of people chasing him for money including John McHenry who was promised a cool million euro retainer to help set up the club as well as various councils and customers for unfinished developments. I wouldn't like to be ponying up a large membership fee at the moment - maybe wait and see or talk to someone in the know :p

In fairness to licksy he was replying to a post I made not th OP and in view of his comments, and accepting that my post was unsubstantiated I deleted it.

The rumours about Moyvalley are actual fact.

Still possible to make bookings for Mon 25th on the Mov Valley website, and have an open event advertised for later in the week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭ipitydafool

New Forest is definitely closed at moment and has been for about the last 10 days, dont know full situation on Moyvalley only rumours so im not going to comment on it. I live in the midlands and know some members of there, its a terrible shame as it is a beautiful golf course and i hope it re-opens soon. obvioulsy the rumour mill is going ninety around here about the financials and the company that owns etc

hi folks. wasn't trying to start rumors or that was just genuinely looking to find out why no answer from the phones. Hope the rumors are incorrect but it doesn't look like it.

Great membership prices at Moyvalley http://www.moyvalley.com/golf/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 606 ✭✭✭Tin_Cup

Prices look great but still no one there! Called around on Wen but no one around. Couldnt get up close to the clubhouse. Like a ghost town with the hotel empty etc. Course looks in great shape and is still being maintained to the highest standard with all the pins out. Have fingers crossed for this place as would love to join. Great range and practice area and a great course.

Great news! Was due to play Headfort New yesterday but never got going because of the frost. Was heading back towards Kildare and decided to stop in Moyvalley just to see if anyone was in the clubhouse. The course and clubhouse was open!! Even better we were able to get out for a round. Course is amazing, really tough, and in superb condition.

This thread has a number of conflicting "facts"... anyone know the truth?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 309 ✭✭THEFRIDGE

I heard from a good source today that it is not closed. He is playing it on Sunday with a member friend. I also heard the membership has been reduced to 1200.

Would people associated with Moyvalley please stop being disingenuous and shilling on here (and not for the first or second or third time).

Now New Forest have new membership prices

    http://www.newforest.ie/golf/

Really nice course, they both are obviously in some sort of trouble as phone lines cut off, but good to see them coming up with deals to get people (and their cash) interested again.

A couple of posts were temporarily deleted there and my message was directed towards that poster who has since been site banned.

WOW - thats an excellent price. I'm renewing mine this month but that has given me something to think about.

I contacted the phone number given on the website this morning. The guy I spoke to John was very helpfull. He confirmed the courses are staying open. Only rumours have been doing the rounds and that the phones will be back up and running in the next week or so.

I was lucky enough to get out in Moyvalley last week and the place is in fantastic condition and I cant recomed it highly enough. Looking forward to getting membership sorted this weekend and hope to remain a member for many years to come!

Yeah same here, im delighted it has re-opended, a few friends are members there and recent developments have seen good commitments put in place and they seem very positive about the course for the future. About 400euros more than i currently pay but i think its twice the course, have to see what the other half says:D.

For a grand lads thats great value, either that or I'm too used to Dublin membership prices. If you lived anywhere near the two courses you'd have to seriously think about it. Apparently great practice facilities in Moyvalley a real notch up in my book.

Ok, there was a post claiming to have been from a (former?) staff member making some comments/allegations. To be fair, I can't leave that kind of post up here.
There's enough information on the thread for anyone who is interested to do their own follow up research so the thread is now closed.
