Let's hope for a bit of running rugby instead of the kickfest last night at TP.

Can't call this one although I'll be shouting for the Tigers.

Kickfest last night in TP was still exciting. I don't get how people immediately dismiss low scoring attritional games as boring. It was a lot more entertaining than last week against Treviso.

Anyway, I predict a Tigers win tbh. But not by much.

Has the potential to be a cracker with both teams looking for a 5 pointer.

It was exciting as a contest but the "rugby" itself wa poor.

I think Tigers will sneak it.

Big match up between Biggar and Flood to look forward to here.

    What was poor about it?

Just because it's not running rugby does not mean it's poor rugby. Saints destroying our scrum is good rugby. Some driving mauls are good rugby. They're all part of the game just as much as running it is.

Don't know how you can find last night game exciting ... as a neutral viewer that was a scrappy bore ... and Munster are specialist of it ;) The best defence i have ever seen. After it is the way you approach the game and the craic you want from it. If you like the stress, the bravery and the drama it's ok.. IMO the game is about running & offloads and Last night was definitly a no game ... not the one i would pay 350€ for a year ticket anyway ;)

I would see Leicester for this one but if osprey manage to set up a mess with their backs they can do it.

I would have thought that Ospreys would have gone with Bowe at 13 and Walker on the wing.

Good to see Johne Murphy and Jeremy Staunton start for the Tigers.

Biggar should really be starting for Wales. He's composed, an excellent kicker, a good distributor and decent in defence.

    How's Staunton doing?

Clermont 2 tries up after 20 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Got a decent drop goal - overall, playing well from 12.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    What's the attendance?

Edit: Try Bowe in the corner, brilliant grubber from James Hook.
    Biggar misses conversion.

    Try for Bowe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭BoarHunter

    Bonus point for Clermont

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭Bukman13

7 tries in the Pool for Bowe now. Clermont have the bonus pts now so it will be the winner of this match who is seeded 7th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭BoarHunter

what if tigers get the bonus ?( which unlikely now but if ever ... )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,586 ✭✭✭sock puppet

Terrible restart from Leicester. Kicking it straight out would have out them in a better position!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

One of the highest tempo matches iv seen for a good long while, both sides will be shattered tomorrow.

This is the best I've ever seen the Ospreys scrummage.

    17 - 12, 10 minutes to go.

Jesus, what kind of offload was that from Hipkiss?

Come on disqualifying Ospreys for having 16 men on for a minute.

Has to be some rule for it. Penalty at least.

Why not take a drop goal with 7 minutes left to go 2 behind? I'll never understand this game.

We will be hearing this for a while, to me they should forfeit the match since the 16 player had a effect in the outcome. But morel likely is a fine and a suspension for someone in management.

Leicester might feel that they don't have the time to get down the field again.

    Tigers close to the line!!

    Oh Mauger!

~6 minutes isn't long enough? They've been down twice since and look at how well they've done in hunting for a try.

    FT.

    Ospreys win.

Ospreys win helped by some odd decisions at scrum time. Was a huge effort for them. Still cheating gits for having 16th men on the field and i pray for the very unlikely possibility that they get kicked out of Europe for it.

Wow not even Challenge Cup for Leicester, shows how competitive this competition can be

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,698 ✭✭✭Risteard

No way was that a penalty to Ospreys for that last scrum. Lewis even hesitated before sticking up his arm.

Ospreys should face consequences for having 16 players on the pitch. Not disqualification but a hefty fine surely, not that that means much for Tigers.

What are the laws regarding it anyone know?

3.2 TEAM WITH MORE THAN THE PERMITTED NUMBER OF PLAYERS
Objection: at any time before or during a match a team may make an objection to the
referee about the number of players in their opponents’ team. As soon as the referee knows
that a team has too many players, the referee must order the captain of that team to reduce
the number appropriately. The score at the time of the objection remains unaltered.
Sanction: Penalty at the place where the game would restart.

    From the IRB site.

How long did they have the extra man on the field?

How long did they have the extra man on the field?

According to the referee, one minute

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,698 ✭✭✭Risteard

Lewis said a minute, but how does he know?

Sky Sports showing that Byrne had a significant impact when Youngs was trying to make a break.

That's more than a little bit bitter sounding. You were beaten fair and square, get over it.

It's interesting to see the English teams scrapping around for the runners up places, only one will go through now. Shows despite all the Sky hype, that the GP remains a relatively poor standard league.

TBF, 16 players isn't very 'Fair and Square' even if it was only for a minute.

    .

Any supporter would react the same way. If Leinster had of lost against Quins last year they would of been ever more loud with their cries with cheating then they already where. The same argument applies here.

Fine but the appropriate action would have just been a penalty anyway, it not being given is no different to a ref missing an offside or any other penalty call. Absolutely no justification for taking any further action - the Sky presenter trying to talk Corry into lobbying for one annoyed me a bit.

I'm not expecting them to be disqualified or anything, but there should be some sort of fine IMO.

With Clermont going through, hopefully they won't be a 3rd tier seed for the pool stages next season.

Leicester have lodged an official protest to European Rugby Cup (ERC) after opponents Opreys briefly fielded 16 players at the Liberty Stadium.

The Tigers slipped to a 17-12 loss in the Pool Three clash, meaning they failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.

However the Ospreys - who qualified for the last eight behind group winners Clermont Auvergne - did at one stage have an extra man on the field.

Full-back Lee Byrne went back on after initially going off nursing a bloodied foot until referee Alan Lewis rectified the situation, though not before the home team had played around a minute with a 16th player.

Leicester chief executive Peter Wheeler and chairman Peter Tom have now confirmed that a complaint has been made to ERC, although it is understood tournament rules mean the result of the match cannot be affected.

"During a significant part of the game, the Ospreys had 16 players on the pitch, and he was involved in a break by Ben Youngs being stopped from developing," Wheeler said.

"We think the interference of the 16th man was significant - you are only entitled to have 15 players on the pitch.

"We think it affected the outcome of the game. The players put their heart and soul into it out there, and they deserve to be treated fairly."

Tom added: "A serious error has been made. We are 12 years or so into the professional game, and it is time administrative procedures were sorted out.

"There has been a significant mistake that could be said to have had an impact on the game. People who administer the game have to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Poor from Leicester. They weren't complaining when Neil Back was deliberately cheating in scrums a few years ago, but they're happy to try to take advantage of an honest mistake by the opposition today.

They came third in a 4 team pool that included a terrible Italian team. That's why they're out.
