I'm looking to buy something that I can fit all my gear into for taking to gigs and wondered does anyone have any recommendations? I have a laptop, a VCI-100, Headphones, and all the random cables etc - but not too much more than that really.

M-Audio do the Xponent Gig bag, which looks great - but I'd prefer a rucksack style one really.

I've seen some 15" laptop rucksacks in pcworld etc but they look kinda flimsy - I want something a little more sturdy.

    Any recommendations?

    Try https://www.chemical-records.co.uk/

They always have a great selection (of everything!) and their delivery rates to Ireland are always very reasonable too. Delivery very speedy always as well.

Also Soundsaround on Capel St could have something suitable in stock as well.

Have a look at some of the UDG gear, http://www.thomann.de/ie/bags_and_cases.html

You're probably going to pay a good bit over the odds for specific 'Dj bags'. There's a billion and one good laptop bags out there that will easily fit all the other stuff too.

I'd Highly reccomend "tech-air" as a DJ bag, mine having survived halfway round Asia with quite a bit of gear in it...(14KG's!! in hand carry :-O) ...

It was about 35 - 40 euro in PC world.

I think mine is the called the "Courier 15" ... its feckin huge, and managed to fit ...

    Netbook
    Korg NanoKontrol
    Hercules RMX
    Macbook 13'
    Digital SLR
All the power supplies USB's cables etc for the above.
    Water bottles and misc ..

Needless to say the 'ol "is there any other electronics in your bag" question at the airport was fun ;)

So far its as good as new and has protected everything a treat ...as it has air capsules sewn into it, hence the name :)

That should all fit in a normal satchel from town. I've one that fits a 13" Macbook perfectly, and the VCI's about the same size as that right? Would easily fit both. Anything like this, and it'd be a lot cheaper than a DJ bad, only €20 quid or so.

a more expensive option but worth looking into for a mobile laptop studio is stuff from http://nambagear.com

I bought the http://nambagear.com/big-namba-studio-backpack/ for travelling and it's been to festivals all over the place and still qualifies as cabin luggage on a Ryanair flight. It holds pretty much everything I need for recording and performing - 17" laptop, midi controllers, 25 key keyboard, audio interface, cables, phones, microphones, weed, skins ......

... and for the laugh .... here's me (in an Aussie sarong) and carrying the bag last year on my way to the ambient stage at the Life Festival:
