Full Time Study & Disability Allowance?

I've applied through the CAO as a mature student. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if you can study full time at 3rd level while keeping your DA (Disability Allowance)? I know there is BTEA (Back to Education Allowance) but it would be better for me to stay on DA as I live in Co.Cork and on DA I'd have free bus travel to Cork but on BTEA I'd lose that as far as I know. And travel for me would cost about €220 a month!

    Thanks.

You will need to talk to them. You can work part time and keep DA, so it may be down to the number of hours you will have.

Travel wise, there are student discounts and weekly /monthly tickets available.

Good luck and don't underestimate the task.

Victor, that €220 is with the student discount! Yeah, still pretty high. Thanks anyway.

Your BTEA will be DA and you can retain free travel and the GMS during your studies.

So is there really any benefit to switching to BTEA. Do you not have to pay the €1500 fee or something?
