Hey all, bought the girlfriend this laptop for Christmas and unfortunately the laptop speaker is atrocious, even at full volume she can barely hear it, I know a solution is buy speakers or headphones but she doesn't want that, she just wants to have decent volume. Anyone know is there any way I can upgrade it or get a program to amplify the sound at a decent quality, I know VLC will go to 200% volume.

    Spec is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK42 1.6GHz.

Also can't understand why they'd include a webcam without a mic.. Is this normal?

What does that spec have to do with the speakers...?

Unfortunately, the speakers are what the speakers are. There's no way to get more sound out of them. No software, no drivers, no tweaks or hidden settings. They're pushing as much power through as possible. You need to buy external speakers. Some are USB powered, and will provide a bit more oomph. Some are external power, and can provide sound equivalent to a big home hifi.

Unless this is your problem? Quite a few reviews mention the speakers are crap on this model, though, so I woudn't hold out much hope for improvement.

That's not very typical, but you should have checked that before you bought it. You can buy an external mic or headset.

Seems standard on Acer Aspires, got one a few months ago and the volume is muck.

Aren't there any audio settings that will improve matters, or better drivers?
