Somewhere special (in Asia) ... for Honeymoon

    Hi all,

    Myself and husband-to-be are planning a 2.5 or 3 week honeymoon next September or October - we're planning to visit Tokyo for 4 or 5 nights, and then fly on somewhere else for the remainder of the trip ...

    We'd love somewhere

    - Very warm!
    - By the sea
    - Great local cuisine
    - Good scuba diving
    - Not stuck on a tiny island or resort with nothing around the area ...
    - We would love a fairly luxurious resort, but love to head into the local towns and villages for the local cuisine in the evenings.

    We've been all around South East Asia and have loved it ... so would be open to the idea of Malaysia or something along those lines!! Anyone know anywhere special which might fit the bill?!

    Would really appreciate your recommendations!!

    Ive heard Redang in Malaysia is amazing ! it's an island off malaysia though but if i'm sure u wont be too isolated there! some lovely top class hotels there as wel. would of gone myself last year but due to the lack of funds ended up in langkawi instead!

    If you're in Tokyo anyway (great choice!) you should think about Okinawa. It ticks all your boxes.

    Thanks killbillvol2, we absolutely love Tokyo, were there a few years ago, and have always intended to go back (purely an eating holiday!!)

    I'm not sure though if I'd like a Japanese style holiday island .. have u been there before? I prefer the craziness of Thailand or Malaysia, and think that it might also be a bit more affordable!

    Haven't been but hope to get there in the next 12 months. I've been to all the other Japanese islands and pretty much all over the country and I just like the way the Japanese do holidays! I suppose if you're on the old honeymoon you won't be doing too much people watching though (hopefully :D).
