In your opinion, who is the best Waterford hurlers (past and present) of all time, and what players currently vieing for a place on the team could make a telling contribution in the years ahead.

Tom, I can only speak of the games I have seen as a 33 year old. For me the answer would have to be Ken McGrath for abundance of talent. He has obviously had a tough time of late with injuries. Very honourable mention goes to Tony Browne, hurling with top class and consistency for what seems like ever.

Again i can only go from what i've seen but it has to be Ken McGrath for me. I always feel a thrill in the Waterford crowd every time he gets the sliotar.

Of the current crop of youngsters i think Baby Shan could in time be as good or better than his brother at his best. Philip Mahony of last years minor team i think will in time be a huge star. I can see him as the natural succesor to Ken Mcgrath

Of the Waterford players I've seen in my lifetime I would also have to nominate Ken McGrath. At his best he had everything, great skill, great heart and leadership. A player you'd always want on your team, and like Brian Whelehan a player who could probably have excelled in any position.

I'd go along with Ken McGrath also. Notable mentions to Paul Flynn and Tony Browne and Michael Walsh. On his day Mullane is no slouch either. OP you should have attached a poll to this thread just to see. I'd wager Ken Mc would top it.

I'd have to say Ken McGrath aswell. While Tony Browne has been consistently top class for over a decade, Ken McGrath always had that little something extra special about him and the rest of the Waterford players seemed to feed off his drive.

This is the one moment that will always stick in my mind because I remember being in Croke Park that day and thinking, how the f**k did he do that?! Pity about the quality but it's the best I could find.
