    Anyone help?

I'm trying to get bit torrent to work on my macbook and when I try to download anything it keeps saying checking for firewall....I don't have a firewall ( do I?) and it works on my housemates pc.

    Any ideas?

    Checking for firewall...

    What client are you using?
Can you try forwarding ports on your router - (where there is more than likely a hardware firewall in place).

You could also lower the firewall level... most consumer firewalls have settings like high, medium and low. Just move it down one level.

If you are using one of these :

Just open your browser and go to http://192.168.1.254 click advanced settings then firewall.

What bittorent app are you using? Use Transmission.

OS X has its own firewall. It'll either be in Security or Sharing in System Prefs depending what version of OS X you are using. For bittorrent to work correctly you'll have to open ports in your firewall and in your router.

    Client?!

Is there something I should download - I only downloaded bittorrent and went from there? Again the pc doesn't seem to need any help downloading...
