Well folks ive been using vittoria open corsa evo cx tires since the summer had to replace back tyre twice in that time and the current one isnt going to last much longer. Im looking for an alternative more hard wearing rolls well and the way things have gone cheaper than the 40euro a pop im paying. Does such a tyre exist or is this the holy grail of cycling. Thanks

Those tyres are known for getting cut up on Irish roads.

Conti Gatorskins offer a reasonable compromise of durability and grip, or GP4000S if you want a bit more grip and a bit less durability (at a price).

I'd agree with what Lumen says. They're race tyres, which means they're designed for speed rather than durability, and I wouldn't even use them for training on continental roads.

I used to use the Vittoria CX tyres for racing but I found I was replacing the rear one every few weeks as it was wearing out too quickly. The tyres had very good grip though. After that I moved on to the Conti 4000's or the Force and Attack and they have as much grip and last a lot longer.

The Vittoria Corsa Evo is my favourite tyre and by far the best for grip that I used, although they do wear out quickly. I was going through a set every 2-3 months and decided to switch.

I switched to Continental 4000GP, which are more durable but not as good for grip, particularly in the wet.

Gain some durability, lose some grip. Be pretty much the case when switch from them to anything else.
