Just wondering if anyone has been to Kitzbuhel and rented ski's, boots etc locally. I am wit a party of five who are going there in Feb and I have been given the job of organising gear/passes. Given that I have never been skiing before I thought I might look for some assistance here. All suggestions greatly appreciated.

    cheers

Whatever you do, do NOT rent from Sport Olympia - we rented from there three years ago. Service and quality were so crap. One girls boots - the 'flange' at the back of the boot was so worn, it wouldn't stay in her bindings.

Was there for New Years this year and last year

We found bith perfect, and both left us drop the ski's and boots back in the evenings with no charge.

this year we used SKi Rent Michael 5 days IMT Ski's and boots. €130 - its about 5-8 mins walk to the hahnenkamm lits, Elemnet 3 is slights nearer just beside the Swimming pool. There is a Intersport very close to the hahnenkamm I think rental was an extra €40 there

I have used Intersport in Mayrhofen and Hintertux and found them good. Interesting to see the price difference.

Thanks for the replies I'll work my way through the wites and see how they compare cost wise and if they are near our hotel. I will post up with what we end up doing and post again after the holiday. Intersport seems like a good site it also seems a bit priceier then the other sites but if its good stuff then fair enough.

thanks also for the tip about the ski passes will need to sort that one out also.

    Thanks again

we're staying here hopefully it will be fine we're a group of 6 married lads spanning both sides of 40 so it will be an interesting holiday. Do any ski hire companies deliver to the hotel.

Cionn, I admire your optimism !
If you are travelling on a package holiday, dont worry, your rep will, or at least should, tell you where to go to pick up skis, boots etc. Get up early first day and get to ski shop early to avoid queues. If you are not on package, go to ski / rental shop and oraganise things yourself. If you arrive in resort before ski shops close on day before your first day's skiing, you may be able to sort out fitting of skis and save yourself the hassle on first ski day.

I think I could be regarded as igorant, thick or a bunch of other words. It proves to me how green I am when it comes to this stuff. Thanks we arrive late on Friday 5th and will pick up gear first thing sat and hopefully beat the crowds.
After that hopefully five days of learning and some fun on the slopes

    cheers for the reply

    Hey Cionn,

You'll need to go to the rental place yourself and choose what you need. Since you're going on a Saturday morning - it shouldn't be too busy. Ski school starts on a Sunday, and that is when the queues are. Steer clear of any places recommended by your rep (if you're going package).

This is a list of the places in Kitz (personally I go with Intersport, service & quality has never let me down)
If you are a group - email ahead and request a discount. Most places will pick you up from your hotel on the morning of rental too.

You'll get your skipass in most rental shops & at the Gondola. Check out the skischools, some may have deals with the rental places for a package. http://www.kitzbuehel.com/en/a-z/?kategorie=SKI&subkategorie=SKI08&city=&keyword=&page=0&send=true

+1 for Interpsort at the lifts Cionn

My missus rented there a few yrs back, they had good stuff and I don't remember there being a big price difference. There are also lockers beside the Intersport at the lifts if I remember correctly that can be hired. Overall though I thought Kitzbuhel was expensive for ski rental.
