Staying in hotel for students!

I've been told about a person at college who is living in a hotel every week. Apparently it's great because you've your own space and no bills and no laundry etc but it's roughly 100 - 140 for the week (not sure exactly). Does anyone know of anyone who did this for college or did it themselves?? I can't find anywhere…
