Strange happenings using Skype, dialwise etc.

I'm living over in Australia at the moment and a few times when my mother has tried calling me on my mobile using dialwise (and another provider, not sure of the name) the phone is answered and an asian sounding guy says hello, who are you calling for, i'll go get them etc. You can hear a dog barking in the background and the guy comes back about ten minutes later and says 'they'll be here in a minute' or something along those lines.

Only when it happens more than once do you realise it's a recorded message. Now this happens intermittently but one night it happened about 10 times in a row. It also happend to me once when I was callling the other half's australian mobile (different phone number to mine) off Skype while in Thailand.

    Has anyone experienced this before?

I have encountered the same with smartvoip on numerous occasions. Have not got it in quite a while (month or so).

I'm not saying it's actually your case, but it's well-documented that some dodgy providers do this, perhaps once in every six calls as a ruse to elevate your charges. In other words they route the calls to themselves or an accomplice.
