Aer Lingus travel voucher

    Howdy,

A question for the forum. I want to purchase an Aer Lingus travel voucher, but expect the recipient will want to use it to buy flights for her and her partner. The voucher purchase process asks very categorically for the (i.e. one) recipients name as per their passport and I'm a bit nervous that it can only be used by that party. I tried calling their support line to try to clarify this - that was a waste of time, perhaps because of the ATC action today, however having followed the instructions, I was left hanging listening to musak for ages and then kicked back to the original menu.

The only relevant section in the T& C is this (and it is a bit ambiguous) "In order to redeem a voucher the person whose name is on the voucher as specified by the purchaser at the time of purchase must be a member of the party being booked. Vouchers are non transferable and may not be resold or bartered."

So my question is - has anyone used the vouchers in the fashion set out above, were there any complications when trying to redeem vouchers?

    Thanks all

My parents got me Ryanair vouchers for Christmas and at the top of the page with the voucher numbers it has my name so I'm assuming that you have to put at least one of the main passport holder's name on it.

It shouldn't be a problem when booking. I booked flights for myself and my girlfriend an hour ago and I put my name and her name in the booking details and there was no problem.

The answer is there. you can book a few people on one booking with the voucher, but the person named on the voucher must be one of them.

That's what it says to me anyway......

Yes, this is what it says and this is how it is. The person whose name is on the voucher must be one of those going.
