the cpu of both are very much the same (unless there is some secret we dont know:))and they specs are very similar too

my main concern on the two are :

    Acer:
    win7 home 64bit
    no webcam
    onboard graphic

    HP:
    win7 pro (32bit?64bit?)
    webcam
    better graphic card

the hp is said to have LED-backlit, anti-glare monitor,it is a damn nice feature whereas i dont know if Acer has it or not.
also the 3g ram of the hp ,2g ram of Acer - this wont bother me much tbh but i 'd recommend get a 4g ram if you can find a ram cheap buy.

if you want a machine straight and dont bother with webcam or win7 version or future upgrade/better performance,go Acer.
if you want abit future proof (must say it is not really a big difference to the Acer generally),go HP,buy a 2g ram and stick it in and sell off the 1g ram(i'd guess there is a 2g ram +1g ram in the Hp machine).

as i said in another thread:
i3/i5/i7 laptops are coming this season,so if OP you can wait abit then you may get more (better) choices with the new ones or cheaper price for the old ones.
