    working as a civil servant
2 years ago got an increase in my wages at the time was going for a mortgage so i emailed clerical to make sure all my wages were in order and i needed sufficient paperwork to prove my earnings for the bank everything was fine i actually asked them at the time by email if my increase was ligit and not a mistake as my mortgage amount was based on my earnings they replied back telling me yes everything was fine i was due an increase.
To cut a long story short was informed just before christmas that they actually made a mistake 2 years earlier and i would have to pay the money back i stiil have my corrisponding emails from 2 years earlier with them telling me my wages were fine i cannot afford to pay them back cause my wages were already cut 12% with the budget and i have a high mortgage.
Is there anything i can do about it?
