    Smackdown.

    Serena got her hair shaved:(:(:(:(:(

    R.I.P Her pretty hair
    serena-deeb-2.jpg
. Finlay defeated Batista by DQ. Finlay talked about he will win the Royal Rumble to face Undertaker for the World Hvt. Championship. Batista attacked Finlay and said he would win the Rumble and face Taker.

    2. Dolph Zigler defeated Jimmy Wang Yang.

CM Punk and Luke Gallows made another Straight Edge promo saving people from the fans. This time they "saved" a fan named "Serena," who is really Mia in FCW. They shaved her head as part of the heel promo.

    3. John Morrison and R-Truth beat Drew McIntyre and Chris Jericho. Drew McIntyre and Chris Jericho were scheduled to face John Morrison in a handicap match, but Teddy Long came to the ramp to announce that it would be a regular tag team match.

    4. Mike Knox and Charlie Haas fought Cryme Tyme to a no-contest. Kane went to the ring and attacked everybody and took out all four men. I think it was a Rumble promo.

There was a segment in the ring with Michelle McCool and Layla taking shots at Mickie James with the ring filled with food and balloons. McCool talked about Mickie James while eating some buffet food. Maria came out and called out Mickie James. Mickie went to the ring to face McCool and Layla. Mickie looked to the fans and said this is how a real woman looks, not like McCool. Michelle talked about how ever time Mickie is in the ring, WWE fans watch Animal Planet and Smackdown at the same time. Mickie attacked McCool and Layla, then Beth Phoenix went to the ring to defend the heels and attack Mickie. McCool threw a pig cake to Mickie's face to end the segment.

    5. Matt hardy and The Great Khali defeated The Hart Dynasty. Hardy rolled up David Hart-Smith for the win.

Rey Mysterio called out Undertaker. Mysterio said he isn't afraid of him. Taker said he admires Mysterio's bravery, but he will defeat Mysterio at the Royal Rumble. He said Rey will rest in peace. As Taker walked out, Batista attacked Rey and then ran away through the crowd.

Vickie Guerrero came out and set up the apparent dark match that closed the show.

    6. Rey Mysterio defeated Batista in a No DQ match. There were run-ins by Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy, C.M. Punk, and Kane before Mysterio pinned Batista.

    ECW

    WE "ECW on Syfy"
Taped earlier tonight in Greenville, S.C.

[Q1] Highlights aired of last week's ECW Homecoming Finale with Ezekiel Jackson winning the battle royal to earn a right to face Christian at the Royal Rumble. The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton hyped tonight's Christian vs. William Regal main event.

Tony Atlas introduced The Abraham Washington Show...

    Twill's Two Cents: Crap.

Atlas said Santino Marella was the special guest host...

    Twill's Two Cents: Cool!

Tony said Santino's special guest was "Vlad-a-mar Kozlo." Nice. Santino and Tony shook hands. He said Abe came down with a case of "Gastro-Laurinatis." Funny. He said Tony was an Italian name and wanted Tony to speak in Italian. They spoke a few Italian phrases.

Santino introduced Kozlov and he came out with a huge smile on his face. Weird. Kozlov spoke in English and said he was a part of a Ukrainian biker gang. He said America was great, but the people were afraid of him. They ask him if he is Ivan Drago from Rocky IV.

Twill's Two Cents: Now THAT would be a gimmick.

Santino asked him to say some lines from Rocky IV. Santino actually did the lines better than Kozlov. He said he liked chili cheese fries and Wal Mart. Santino suggested they become a tag team. The crowd booed at the thought. Vladimir said no and had to reiterate. Santino ended the show...

Twill's Two Cents: Well, at least that was an attempt to get Kozlov over as a babyface. Other than that, not even Santino could save this format. Horribly boring segment, even with the Rocky references, and everyone knows I'm the biggest Rocky fan ever.

Goldust and Yoshi Tatsu were shown walking through the backstage area... [C]

[Q2] 1. Trent Barreta and Caylen Croft defeated Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust in 6:11. Yoshi hit a few deep arm drags, but Barreta pulled him violently to the floor. Croft and Barreta worked on Tatsu as Yoshi looked to make a tag. Solid tag team wrestling by the heels. Yoshi hit a spin kick before making the tag.

Goldust hit several "hot tag" moves including a snap powerslam for a two count. With both men in the ring, the referee was distracted by Yoshi inadvertently. Goldust had a rollup, but was hit with a closeline, allowing Barreta to get the pinfall...

Twill's Two Cents: Formula tag match that was boring, to be honest. Barreta and Croft utilized solid tag team wrestling skills, but damn, they are so bland. The tights are atrocious and there is no reason to care about them. They are like Diet Ryder and Hawkins.

Speaking of Zack Ryder, he and Rosa Mendes made their way through the backstage area. Matthews said Ryder had a huge announcement to make... [C]

Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes came out to the ring. Matthews called them the "Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag" of WWE. His big announcement was that he was to be referred to as "The new heart and soul superhero" of ECW.

[Q3] Ryder had the announce girl come into the ring and announce him under his new name. He had her do it again because the first time was not very inspired. Rosa berated the girl in Spanish as The Hurricane hit the ring and took out Ryder. Hurricane's music hit and he kissed Savannah on the hand...

Twill's Two Cents: I know Ryder plays a character that acts in a douche-like fashion, but nobody could ever match the douche-ocity of Spencer Pratt. By the way Heidi, don't puncture your face. Anyway, despite Ryder, this was another lackluster segment.

A graphic for Christian vs. Regal was shown... [C]

The announcers ran down the current Royal Rumble card. This year, they are doing ninety second increments...

Twill's Two Cents: I'd rather have a small undercard and two minute increments.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Vance Archer was plugged for Superstars on Thursday...

    Christian made his entrance... [C]

[Q4] 2. Christian defeated William Regal (with Ezekiel Jackson) by disqualification in a non-title match in 16:10. By the time they locked up, the match was already five times as long as their SummerSlam match. Regal zeroed in on Christian's fingers and hand.

With their hands interlocked, they engaged in some impressive chain wrestling, including Christian hitting a monkey flip, but Regal hanging on. Regal applied a submission that looked like the beginning of a Russian leg sweep. Regal took a backdrop and rolled to the floor. Christian hit a running dropkick. He stayed on the floor and stared down Jackson... [C]

Tell you what, Saxton is horrible as the heel commentator. It's one thing to be the heel, but it's another thing to be annoying. He said, "Christian is trying to end the match early because he is concerned with Jackson on the floor." Everyone tries to the end the match whenever they can. Saxton was doing just fine when he was just a solid color guy.

Regal scored a nearfall with a side elbow from an Irish whip. He then made multiple covers and Christian had to kick out multiple times. Christian tried the Killswitch, but Regal countered it into a suplex of sorts. He then kicked Christian in the face from the floor with Christian hanging over the apron.

[Overrun] Christian countered a double underhook suplex attempt into a small package for a two count. He hit a tornado DDT from the second rope for another nearfall. He hit a missile dropkick but Regal sidestepped the second one. Christian knocked Regal to the floor, and Jackson then attacked him from behind to end the match.

Afterward, Regal hit the running knee to the side of Christian's head. That move always look sick. Jackson hit the Super Rock Bottom. Regal and Jackson stood over Christian with their arms up. Zeke made the belt motion around his waist. He hit his finisher again as the show went off the air...

Twill's Two Cents: Damn good match. That was an example of a slow paced match that worked. There were two superior and snug workers in the ring who also sold the offense of their opponent really well. Truthfully, the finish surprised me because given the length of the match, Christian could have won, Regal could have still been praised, and they still could have had the post match attack. Great way to end a very average show with just two matches.

From PW Torch in much more detail, the Punk segment sounds amazing...

    (1) Finlay beat Batista via DQ. After a few minutes of Batista dominating Finlay, it looks like Batista raked the eyes and got DQ'ed. After the match, he delivered a strong and memorable beating to Finlay. With each kick, he named a Rumble opponent he was going to crush. "This is John Cena (kick)! This is Shawn Michaels (kick)!" The crowd ate this up. As Finlay whimpered, Batista went on to talk about how he was going to win the Rumble and go after Undertaker at WrestleMania.

    [Break]

    (2) Dolph Ziggler beat Jimmy Wang Yang via submission. Dolph Ziggler came out to little reaction, followed by Jimmy Wang Yang, who got a decent reaction. They had a fast-paced, exciting match and Yang got in the bulk of the offense. Ziggler locked in the sleeper hold and the ref declared Ziggler the winner after Yang was non-responsive. With them protecting Yang, I am fairly certain that he's on the cusp of a push, while they cemented Ziggler's sleeper as a finisher. This is good news for Ziggler, because it gives him a way to beat opponents like Batista and Undertaker without resorting to cheap tricks. All of the smaller guys should have a submission finisher, on that note.

    [Break]

C.M. Punk and Luke Gallows came out. Punk delivered his promo while slowly strolling to the ring. Very, very strong promo that started with DX being a bunch of immoral degenerates. He stated that the Tag Team Title match would be next week on Smackdown. He then went on to discuss the Rumble, saying that he would win that too. While he was in the ring talking, a female "fan" rushed the stage and security held her back. Punk insisted they let he go, and she came into the ring begging to be saved. Punk did his intimate touching routine while Gallows did rubs, and the woman played her part perfectly in a state of near rapture. She admitted that she was an addict, that she needed pills to get through her day, but she knows she needs a change. She pledged allegiance to the Straight Edge Society and to Punk. She was delighted to get her head shaved. Throughout it she looked like she was in a state of religious ecstasy. Afterwards, Punk kissed her forehead like she was his favorite daughter and they walked back together.

This was an absolutely unbelievably awesome segment. While the head-shaving took a while which cooled the crowed off a bit, the crowd was downright stunned by this. Remember, this is in Greenville, South Carolina, the "buckle of the Bible belt." The crowd was screaming that Jesus was the savior, not Punk. People in the audience were calling the "fan" a "whore." The mood was electric. I half-expected someone from the audience to legit jump the fence and try to save the woman from Punk. I also noted there were more signs about Punk (both pro and anti) than any other wrestler on the card, except for Rey Mysterio (maybe). In other words, Punk is officially the most over wrestler in the WWE right now, except for DX and Cena. He is definitely their #1 heel.

    [Break]

Drew McIntyre came out to ZERO crowd reaction, followed by Chris Jericho. The audience was bored with Jericho after watching a long match with him already this evening. John Morrison came out alone, as this was booked to be a 2-on-1 handicap match. Great pop for John Morrison. The audience hasn't seen any backstage skits, so why this match was like this was a mystery. Teddy Long came out and said that Vickie booked this match without consulting him (maybe that was a backstage skit?), and that he was making it fairer by adding R-Truth. R-Truth came out to a good crowd reaction.

    (3) R-Truth & John Morrison beat IC champion Drew McIntyre & Chris Jericho. The match started quick, and R-Truth and Morrison ended up clearing the ring. They posed as the heels were on the outside and they made the audience pop on demand. WWE has two very, very hot commodities in these guys. After the break, Jericho and McIntyre took control for what was one of the most boring, drawn-out beat downs in history. Morrison made four or five hot tags attempts (yes, it was that drawn out) before finally getting R-Truth in. The crowd went insane. At one point, the referee didn't notice a pin by the heels because he was distracted by the other heel (ironic), and R-Truth ended up pinning Jericho. I didn't see if it was a roll-up or the Lie Detector, thanks to the camera crew being in my way. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any of Morrison's trademark moves, not even the smaller ones like the Pele kick, handstand kick, or standing SSP.

    [Break]

Team Lay-Cool came out to a mixed reaction. It was hard to tell who the cheers were for - Layla, who looks even better in the arena than she does on TV, or McCool with her tough-girl character. They had a "Buh Bye Piggie James" party setup, with pig-shaped cakes, balloons that said "Go Away," and a bunch of sweets, chips, etc. on the table. They cut another "Mickie James is a fat pig" promo to lots of heat. McCool said that the "bad news" was that MJ wouldn't be showing up to their scheduled title bout at the Rumble, and the "good news" was that tonight she was "leaving Smackdown." Maria came out to interrupt. As it got heated, Mickie James came out to a huge, huge pop, and cut the best Diva promo in a very long time. She said that all her life, she dealt with people like Layla and McCool, who fed off the misery of other, but inside were scared and hurt. She said that she is NOT fat, that she is happy with who she is. Crowd went nuts. In one of the best moments of recent WWE TV, MJ said that all women, short and tall, fat or skinny, curvy or not curvy, were beautiful and should be proud of who they are. The crowd exploded by this point. It was so incredibly refreshing to finally hear this promo, and the audience clearly appreciated it. She said that she isn't leaving Smackdown, and she will be seeing McCool at the Rumble for the title match.

A brawl broke out. Beth Phoenix came in, in street clothes and bare feet. She looked torn, and decided to join with Lay-Cool in beating the faces. Maria got knocked out, and Beth held Mickie while McCool shoved cake in her face and then dumped the punch in her face. The heels left the ring and Phoenix did the "getting dust off my hands" at the top of the ramp while McCool and Layla came behind. The crowd half-expected Phoenix to turn on Layla and McCool, and a few of them called for it, but it didn't happen. Camera shots of Mickie James crying. The crowd was ready to lynch Lay-Cool after this.

    [Break]

Mike Knox and Charlie Haas came out. Tony Chimel introduced Cryme Tyme, and then gave the "in the ring" treatment to the heels. As a note, he gave them a combined weight, so maybe they are officially forming as a team?

    (4) Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard & JTG) vs. Mike Knox & Charlie Haas went to a No Contest. The match lasted a minute or two, then Kane came out with full pyro and cleared the ring. The in-ring teams actually tried to gang up on Kane, but it ended when he put Shad and Knox into a double chokehold, and shoved them over the top rope. His music hit and he stomped out of the ring. No clue why this happened, unless it was to establish him as a strong contender for the Rumble. I'm assuming this was a No Contest ending.

    [Break]

Matt Hardy and The Great Khali came out to an okay reaction; they also now get a "combined weight," if I recall. They're facing The Hart Dynasty.

    (5) Matt Hardy & Great Khali beat Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd & D.H. Smith w/Natalya). This match barely got started when it ended. D.H. Smith was in the ring with Hardy and Natalya went to Khali to start flirting to take him off the apron so Matt couldn't tag out. Smart move in terms of showing the heel side of The Hart Dynasty. They lost anyways, as Matt got a cheap roll up victory. Natalya immediately gave up on Khali and ran back to her team, while Smith made his patented, "I can't believe we just lost for the 15th time in 2010" face.

    [Break]

Rey Mysterio came out to a really good crowd reaction, and said he was calling out The Undertaker. Taker came out to the biggest pop of the night. Rey made his usual "this has been a dream come true" speech. Undertaker says that Mysterio is like HBK, full of resolve and spunk. Taker says that he admired Rey's attitude, but like all of the others who tried to make a name at his expense, he will...rest...in...peace. Boring promo, with nothing specific from either one. We've heard this a million times. I don't recall if Undertaker promised to take Rey's soul. The crowd was super hot for Undertaker though, to the point of booing Rey Mysterio. I'm not sure who WWE is presenting as the face in this matchup, but the audience is treating Rey as the heel. Undertaker's music hit and he limped away (his walking looks even worse in person than it does on TV). While he did his fist in the air routine at the top of the ramp, Batista ambushed Rey from behind and beat him senseless. The show closed at this point (or maybe before the ambush).

Post-Show: Vickie Guerrero came out to the best heel heat of the night by far (wow, is she wasted in her current role!), to actually do a face move by giving Rey a "revenge match" against Big Dave.

Dark Main Event: Rey Mysterio beat Batista in a No DQ match. The match lasted a few minutes. I am guessing that it was No DQ because Rey got a broom from under the ring and Batista had a chair and the bell didn't ring. Rey used the broom to smack the chair so it would hit Batista in the head. Good use of the weapons in a way that doesn't cause damage while looking like it does. Jericho ran down the ramp and ambushed Rey, then Matt Hardy ran down to take out Y2J, then Punk and Gallows knocked out Hardy, followed by Kane who tossed them out. Kane rocket-launched Rey onto Batista, and the ref hit the three count. The faces celebrated in ring while the heels limped away. The crowed loved it when Luke Gallows had to pull Punk's limp body by the arm like he was a sack of potatoes up the ramp.

    Overall Thoughts

This show had a laser beam focus on the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. All of the big stars are saying the same thing: "I'm going the win the Royal Rumble and then I am going to beat Undertaker and end The Streak." This is what is going to sell the Royal Rumble; not the match itself, not the possible breakups of any teams, but whether or not the winner will actually have the chance to face the Undertaker, and if so, who that person is.

Based on this, here are my predictions:

    (1) Undertaker retains the title. While he makes a poor champion in his current condition, having two months to build up a "Mega-Star vs. The Undertaker" match is a sound strategy. Otherwise, they will need to find some other way to get a fantasy match with Taker, and there is no one on the Smackdown roster who fits the bill, other than Batista and Mysterio.

    (2) DX is losing the tag belts next week. This justifies letting them split up at the Rumble (or tease a split up to sell the Rumble) so Triple H can go after Sheamus and HBK can chase The Undertaker.

    (3) Sheamus retains at the Rumble.

    (4) Christian retains at the Rumble.

    (5) The Women's Title could go either way. Phoenix was more heel than last week, but she is still really playing the Kane role of the monster who does what she pleases when she pleases with no remorse.

    (6) The Hart Dynasty will never get a win. Neither will Mike Knox. Jimmy Wang Yang will get one before either of them; he appears to be on a small push.

    (7) Dolph Ziggler is slowly being built up as being capable of winning matches in a variety of ways. I think it's time to follow JR's advice and buy stock in him again.

    (8) No one cares about Drew McIntyre. R-Truth may get the belt next, or it could go back to John Morrison. If Truth gets it, I wouldn't be surprised if he holds it for Dolph Ziggler.

    (9) I find it fascinating that it's easy to predict Raw based on Smackdown, due to the wildcard nature of the Rumble.

    (10) Strong show with lots of intrigue to sell the Rumble and Mania, but some of the wrestling itself was a bit boring, especially Morrison/R-Truth – Jericho/McIntyre.

I doubt any woman would let someone cut their hair on live television
unless they got some sort of incentive.
Probably the next person after Festus to enter the wrestling part of The Straight edge Society.

Sounds like a sub-par show, outside of the Punk and Mickie James segements.

Glad to see Serena called up, and i really hope her commitment pays off (if that's why this haircut came about). I think the Punk stable has needed a female to give that extra dimension, and she's a talented lady. She's such a natural babyface though, it'll be interesting to see how she does.

I'd be amazed if Rey isn't completely booed out of the building at the Rumble, as he usually is when he's presented as the top Babyface contender.

As good as Punk was the true star of the night was Serena's rack.

First time watching Smackdown in ages and it was a good show. Batista is bloomin' great now. I am starting to think Jericho might has an issue with letting Jo Mo pin him seeing as he's done the job for every man and his dog over the past year or more but I don't recall Morrison getting over him once. Considering he's the one in the title match next he could've done with the 3 count either last week or this.

Serena played a *huge* part in that.

SD really was a good show this week. Batista the heel is coming along well. Y2J can still job and retain his heat. BTW, R-Truth got some pop this week. The show must've been taped in Carolina.

The dance is strangly hypnotic. Khali can really move in it.
