Reinstalling OS X

    Hey Guys,

I bought a Macbook back in March of last year. Since then, I've managed to lose the install DVDs (silly me :pac:). I got an iMac, so it's time to pass the Macbook on to new hands.

Basically what I'm wondering is if I can reinstall OS X on a Macbook, with the discs that came with an iMac. It's probably a stupid question, not sure to be honest, better safe than sorry.

Also, the Mac is running Leapord, and the discs are for Snow Leapord. Would that affect anything in any way?

    Thanks!

No, the discs that came with the iMac carry only software specific to that machines configuration. You'll need either the orignal discs or a retail disc.

Ouch, didn't want to hear that :pac:

Do you know how much the discs cost? Also, is there a way of basically clearing everything, and deleting my profile off the Mac without having to reinstall the OS?

    Thanks

You can buy Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) for €29.

If its just deleting your profile rather than re-install

    1. Create a new admin profile ..

    2. Login with the new profile

3 Delete your old profile, option of deleting all files and folders associated

    4. Job done :)

    5. If your paranoid, use disk utility afterwards and do a zero of free space.

Thanks for that, just what I was looking for ;)
