Is the compresser running? How old is it? Is it a fridge/freezer? and if so is the freezer holding temp?

My fridge is no more than 3 years old. The compressr is running. The freezer is fine. The only signs really is the milk.

Should the compressor not stop as such once it reaches it temp. There always seeems to be a low him with mine.

The milk locally is delivered by the same man so I am going to test that theory by buying somewhere else and seeing does it last.

Any more info on where I would get a thermomater etc would help

Yes my fridge is b@!!!@xed well and truly. The freezer is still freezing. but the fridge is not. The fridge never switches of.

I am in a dilema now. Do I risk paying a repair man between 100 and 150 and hour to come out and look at the problem or do i spend 400 on a new one and hopefully wash all my problems with this manufacturer away.

I googled the frige and i cannot find the problem. It does say a fan might be stuck or the thermostat might be fooked but I see no fan and surley(dont call me surley) the freezer would go if the thermostat is gone.

I suspect because the motor is constantly running the gas is leaking in which case it does not explain why the freezer is not bust.

Oh the pain.... Any ideas folks...

I'm no fridge expert, but one dodge I recall hearing about is that sometimes a cooling circuit can get gas locked (like an airlock in a water pipe), and sometimes by tilting the fridge onto it's side it will clear. No idea if that works -- never tried it:p

Its a classic symptomn of a blockage in the system. You are right, if the thermostat was faulty the freezer would not work.To fix the problem the gas will have to be drained and then regassed. However this will cost about 150 euro and once a fridges gas system is opened it will never work quite the same again.

Hey I found your helpful comment on here from ages ago - I'm facing the same thing:

There is a gas smell off my (5 year old) fridge since the weekend.
The motor is running, but everything is warm.

I was offered €120 + parts to get someone out... a local place is selling a Belling ex diplay model for €299...

Not sure what to do?
What would be your take on it ?

you haven't mentioned whether its frost free or conventional. if frost free unplug it overnight and try again as it may have got clogged up with ice. if it is a regular fridge freezer where you can normally see frost/ice on the back wall and it is now running without making ice it has leaked refrigerant and not fixable
