    Better quality of interview here.

Good to see Brock back - love or hate him.

Couple of nice possible match ups later in the summer.
I hope that when brock returns for his first fight he is 100% that whoever beats him beats the real brock rather than a ring rusty version etc.

Don't think Lesnar is going to be the dominant MMAer for as long as people think. He's a bit of a one trick pony, wrestling and GnP. Reckon Mir is beefing up again to fight fire with fire.

    Isnt that two tricks?

Questioning Brock's dominance and putting forward his last opponent Mir in the same post is lolz to me. Sorry.

    Recap of the Press Conference:
UFC News: Brock Lesnar says he's back, will train this week, refers to Frank Mir as "a stalker," talks politics, full report on his press conference with UFC President Dana White

    By Jason Powell
    Jan 20, 2010 - 12:35 PM

The following are the highlights from the Brock Lesnar and Dana White conference call on Tuesday.

-White said Lesnar was only fighting at 60 percent of his potential for a year. Brock said his body couldn't get enough nutrients. "This stuff doesn't just come over night," he said. "I've had it for a while." Lesnar said his stomach essentially exploded and that's what put him in the hospital.

-Lesnar said doctors wanted to remove the bad part of his colon. He said he would have had a colostomy bag for six to eight weeks and then they would have had to put his colon back together in a second surgery. He said he probably would have retired if he had undergone that surgery.

-White said Shane Carwin and Frank Mir will fight for the UFC Interim Heavyweight Championship. He said that if something happens to the winner of that fight and he was unable to fight, Lesnar would face the winner of Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

-Lesnar praised the American doctors following his experience in Canada. "They couldn't do nothing for me," Lesnar said regarding the Canadian doctors. "It was like I was in a third world country." He added that he loves Canada and owns property there, but he would take medical treatment in the United States over Canada any day. He stressed again that he loves Canada and said he simply wasn't at the right medical facility.

-Brock credited his wife Rena Lesnar for saving his life by getting him out of the Canadian hospital. He said his wife drove 100 MPH to rush him to the hospital in North Dakota. He said he was in excruciating pain the entire drive. He said he called Dana and asked him to get a jet for him. He and White laughed.

-Lesnar said he laid in a hospital in Bismarck, N.D. for 11 days. He said he couldn't eat and had to be fed intravenously. He said he eventually went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He said he lost 40 pounds during the ordeal. He said the thing that put him in this position was an all protein diet and a lack of fiber.

-Lesnar said the doctors told him he had a "winning lottery ticket" when they examined him on January 5. They said he didn't need surgery. He said he had another scan on Monday just to be on the safe side.

-Brock said he's returning to the gym on Thursday to begin training. "They heavyweight division is on their toes again because Brock Lesnar is back," Lesnar said.

-A caller asked whether Brock was just eating meat. Brock said he's a carnivore. He said he doesn't like PETA and is a member of the NRA. "I eat what I kill," Lesnar said.

-A Canadian media member asked where Lesnar was in Canada when he encountered the medical problems. Lesnar declined to say. He said he didn't agree with Barack Obama's medical plan and described himself as a conservative Republican. He said he was speaking out on behalf of American doctors. Lesnar said he doesn't blame the Canadian facility because they didn't have the right machinery.

-Brock said he was down to 248 lbs. He said he currently weighs 273 lbs. He joked that the last time he weighed 248 was when he was in second grade.

-Lesnar said the experience has changed his outlook on life. "I believe things happen for a reason," Lesnar said. He added that he felt like he needed to reevaluate and make some changes.

-A caller asked if he would be motivated to fight Mir for a third time. "Absolutely," Lesnar said. "I don't think I beat him as bad as I could." He said Mir is a stalker and that he would take care of him if they meet again.

-Brock said he has been back in the gym helping some of his fellow fighters. "I came back and I was throwing them around like sacks of potatoes," Lesnar said. He said that when he got the green light, he stopped looking back.

-Lesnar declined to comment on who he expected his next opponent will be. He mentioned the four possible opponents and said: "I'll guarantee you one thing, those guys are all ****ting their pants right now."

-Brock said it was tough to keep information quiet. He said it pissed him off that his own camp was saying things they weren't authorized to say. Lesnar said it made him want to get rid of those people. "We've got something to say today, which is Brock Lesnar is back, he'll be back in the octagon, and I'm feeling 100 percent."

-The final caller pointed out that Lesnar was originally misdiagnosed with mono in the United States. Brock blamed himself. He said they wanted to do a CT scan, but he didn't want them to do it. "That's my fault," Lesnar said. He added that he did test positive for mono, but he wasn't sure where he acquired it. "I'm not bashing the Canadian healthcare," Lesnar said. He said it doesn't matter where he was, he wanted to get back to his homeland for his healthcare. He stressed that he doesn't want healthcare reform. "I'm not a believer in socialism and I don't agree with what's going on," Lesnar said.

-The caller brought up that low-level fighters have a hard time getting insurance. He asked how Brock acquired insurance. "I'm an independent contractor," Brock said. He said there needs to be restructuring of the healthcare system, but not socialism.

-White wrapped up the conference call.

The best thing about that video, other than the fact he his healthy, is that he doesn't seem to have lost anywhere near the muscle mass that was originally reported. He doesn't look any different to before and for Lesnar, that's important. I was dreading seeing some sort of half-Lesnar being dominated in the cage by bigger fighters!

Ground and Pound isn't exactly technical like say, been a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu now is it. Doesn't take weeks and years to learn how to GnP a guy when your a giant whale like Lesnar.

Never said it was, I thought we were talking about tricks here?

Anyway on your point about the giant whale Lesnar wasnt Mir's superior Jiu Jitsu meant to overcome that?

I reckon he's lost a stone or so...

Yeah, it's not like wrestlers ever dominated the LHW or HW divisions with GnP for any significant length of time.
Except of course for Mark Coleman, Tim Sylvia, Randy Couture, Tito, Both Shamrocks

It's how to get the guy to the ground that takes years tio learn. His size obviously helps, but without the collegiate background the likes of Randy and Mir wouldn't of had much trouble.

True. That GSP fella depends on powerful wrestling and GnP too and he's going nowhere fast...

(PS, I know GSP has other skills but he doesn't often use them. But he is proof that wrestling and GnP can make you a "dominant MMAer".

Also at 100, Lesnar didn't just charge Mir and pound him like he did in the first fight. He secured his arm, positioned his body to eliminate Mir's hip movement and then once all was in place, he mashed his face in. Getting total control of the body and arm position of a fighter like Frank Mir takes more than just brute size and ignorance. Otherwise Bob Sapp would be the champ.

fook styles fook jujitsu and fook everyone who thinks just coz you're not a black belt in jujitsu or that you cant parry and strike like Ali that you dont disserve same respect as other fighters - its fighting simple as that - winning is the only think that matters and Brock whether you want to describe him as one trick pony or not wins fights and is arguably the toughest fighter to beat in pro MMA in the world bar maybe Fedor - he might not knock you out, he might not submit you but he will most likely beat the p1ss outa you for 3/5 rounds till you're mush, in fact, it seems he'll beat your brain around till apparently you're so stupid you want to fight him again !!! MMA isn't how do I look good? or how do I gain the respect of arm chair fans or jujitsu world champs .... how do I win this fight? is the only question to consider - and Brock answers that question with "controlled utter explosive violent power"... it might not be pretty but the fans at the first UFC's were booing when Royce wrapped up fighters for 20 mins in guard to win by guillitine...because they wanted to see bangers... now people want highligh reel spinning hook kicks and flying scissors heelhooks in every event when the guys inside the cage are just trying to win.... like Brock

The only place in the world where Jiu Jitsu matters is on the mat but it's irrelevant if you have too much power to evade the moves...

    I'm not at all.

Dana can hype the fu*k out of it and make him out to be a terminator with "I'll be back" campaigns...

Who knows, there was always going to be hype one way or the other.
