Rec a router & Nas.

Hi,

Currently I have an 6 year old Netgear modem/router - but it needs near daily reboot - not sure why. overheating - just old !!

So, I have a cat5 network in the house and a popcorn hour media streamer.

I need to upgrade my router and get a 2 bay Nas (1 * 1.5tb initially).
Nas will not run raid - just plain old storage/usenet/possible wifi music access(eg squeeaebox).

Any rec on either of these units.
whats the diff between a router and a switch ?

Sorry, I cannot recommend a NAS, but a lot of them today provide many competitive features, Itunes, bittorrents, ftp.... so you might want to consider that in any purchase decision.

A switch allows many computers to communicate with each other, it does not know anything about the internet. For that you need a modem/router. Many modem/routers include a 4 port switch for convenience.

Router here might be over kill but we find them good. The Netgear kit has been very reliable and is well priced for what you get..
