SIS betting in running

    Hi,

I'm wondering does anyone have sis pictures and how do they find it compares to at the races etc.. I was on to the Irish division of sis and they say they don't notice any difference between their feed and the at the races channel. I have talked to a few guys online claiming 5 seconds in the difference which sounds ludicrous. For sure there is a delay which is as clear as day if you watch the odds in running but whether that is created from on track betting or people with faster feeds i'm unsure. I've read the piece on sis in the betfair explained thread already but have heard different from sis themselves so any information first hand would be great.

    Thanks.

Well TurfTV (who are linked with RUK, I think) are about 2 seconds ahead of SIS.

Are turftv not only for the likes of bookies & trade exchanges? I didn't think I could pay for it privately. Also, have you seen first hand yourself that it's 2 seconds faster?

Depends on a few things but I was in an exchange trading room which had both SIS and regular ATR. I'd say the difference was roughly 3 seconds.

What does it depend on? Thanks for the information lads.

Well for example, what are you watching ATR on?

A mate of mine found that Sky plus was slower than regular Sky and a second or two different (can't remember which way) than NTL. But to be perfectly honest, in-running punting from home on a regular digital set up is useless.

It's a few months since I was in the trading room so things may have changed but at the time, SIS was 3-4 seconds faster than regular ATR on sky digital.

Don't know much about Turf TV speeds but I asked SIS how much it would cost to get set up at home and from memory, it worked out around 6K.

I remember being at Fairyhouse one time with access to live feed - that is the actual pictures they all feed off. It was almost instant. The more it feeds down the line, the longer it takes. EG... Live Feed - - - ATR Pickup - - - Your TV.

If you are watching Irish racing on RTE, stick a coat hanger into your TV as the old terrestial is quick.

Still, you can't get any faster than the guys at the course - and the AW tracks in the UK are now hiring out boxes to these guys.

By the way, that Betfair thread was written a long time ago so the situation may have changed a lot since.
