So my brother's birthday is coming up and I have decided that instead of buying him a useless present I would donate money to Haiti on his behalf. Looked at a few websites and can't find any that will allow me to do this. Any suggestions of legit charities that will ? And yes I know about buy the gift of cows and stuff but right now I would prefer to give my money to Haiti (Already got a goat:p)

I mentioned once to my friend that people gave donations to charity as presents. Her response was: "Well that's just a big 'fcuk you' isn't it? Giving money that you can't spend"

So make sure your brother's a charitable person, otherwise he will hate you for this!

Go in to Concern. Give them a cheque and ask them for a receipt. Put the receipt in an envelope with a photo of a Haitian stuck under a building. Give the envelope to your brother. Cancel the cheque.

In fairness he is a fairly charitable person. My sister and I usually buy him a present together but this year my sister is extremely pissed off with him as he never gets us or our parents presents, I think he's just really unaware, anyway she said we shouldn't bother with his birthday at all this year. I thought this was a bit spiteful so I suggested this as a comprimise so we'll all be happy she's technically not giving him a present, he is getting a present and a worthy cause will get money.

Your sister is spot on. If he doesn't get you anything, then he should fcuk off and not expect anything in return. Not even a charitable gift.

That's not really a present though is it, that's just you giving money to charity and then saying "hey look, you should really give money to charity". Also it's saying that these people in haiti deserve things more than your brother does (most people would say they do... but you are just pointing that out as well)

if i got this as a "present", i'd be looking for an exchange or refund

As long as you are doing it out of revenge you should get the reaction ya want and maybe your brother will realise his actions (or lack there of) have not gone unnoticed.

Drug him, put him in a box with a birthday card, and ship him over there

He can make his own damn present
