    Sweet!

Why do some developers insist on wifi only streaming though?

Lets hope it gets updated to use 3G streaming.

    Download here

Was only released yesterday so hopefully this hasn't been mentioned yet!

Been messing around with it for a while and it's an excellent app, really very good. Very similar in design to the Sky News app which is hardly a bad thing and the added live video feed is a nice touch too (only works via wifi though). What's important to note though is how long it takes to update stories, hopefully it won't be similar to the Irish Independent which has stories a day or two out of date.

If I was to be picky, the ad at the bottom is very intrusive, but you can't really complain about that when it's free :)

Edit: Damn, just a couple of minutes late! Any chance a mod could merge? Cheer.

yea picked this up earlier but the live stream doesn't work for me. only tried it over wifi. no issues with connection. The feed application starts to launch and immediately quits. Anyone else have this issue?

So this is free in Ireland? It is priced at $2.99 for me in the US. Is RTE News Now by Digital Reach Group is the same one?

Think I will skip it for a while.

Not a bad app, but the live feed picture quality is very poor. France 24 has the best picture for a news channel so far. It is great that RTE have an app though.

There for me, I just downloaded it for free :)
And the video works in both 3G (Three) and WiFi.

THe RTE 2FM app is a great application also.

    Well done RTE

Interesting - what you could do is the old 'create an iTunes account for another country' trick. Create an account for Ireland, then it should be free to download.
1.Go into iTunes and log out of your country?s store
2.Select the US store (or whichever country you need) at the very bottom of iTunes
    3. Go To the App Store and click to download a free App.
    4. Pick a user/pass and enter secret question etc.
    5. Then click next and enter any address.
    6. Select NONE at the bottom where it says enter billing info and you're done
7.Now go and download the iPhone Games and Applications that are only available in the iTunes store for that country.

It's actually not an add, it's a scrolling headlines thingy. That live feed is coming from RTE's new News channel that's being aired on their digital terrestrial broadcast for the last month and a half or so, currently on the RTENL TEST channel.

There is a bulky O2 add in the bottom of the headlines screen... that is what is being referred to here...
