    Hi All,

I love the los vagas style/frank sanatra/rat pack type of music but is type of band good for a wedding ? Do people dance to it or is it more dinner music ?

I was at a wedding recently where the band did lots of soul and funk and the floor was packed. They switched to swing and tumble weed blew across the floor. I like the music but you have to think about whether it is music you dance to or not.

    I agree with previous poster..

I too love Jazz and Swing. But it's not everyones cuppa..

What do you want to achieve from your day?

My brother had a swing/jazz band and they really didn't pack the floor! Although, People did say they had the most relaxing time they ever had a a wedding..

I'm getting married in six weeks and we are having The Glitterbugs, very much funk, rock, disco pop etc..!
PM me if you want to come along and see them..

I recently djed after the velvet lounge band who play regularly in the westin and
they kept the floor going all night. They also play some contemporary stuff like
valerie etc. have a look at their website, may be a playlist on it.

We had also had a swing band for our wedding and everyone seemed to
    enjoy it :)

I love this music too but decided against it for our wedding. I had been to see a few swing bands and they never had many people up dancing. We decided on a band that did all kinds of music so we had a bit of swing thrown in but it wasn't the entire night. Unfortunately they're not together anymore :(

We did attend one wedding where the swing band played at the drinks reception, the couple hired 2 professional dancers who did a big number then got the newly married couple to join in. It only lasted about 8 -10 minutes but it was great craic and had everyone talking

we had a swing band at our wedding in portugal last year, the floor was full all night. I think it really depends on the mix of guests you have and also the band....

my cousin got married last november and had a band that was this style, floor was full all night, but as other posters have said, it does depend on the crowd you have as this was a very mixed age group

I'd love to hear a swing band for a while at a wedding but I don't think I would dance to that music tbh or enjoy it all night. I'm a pop girl at heart! As previous posters have said though it does depend on your mix of guests
