p45 help please anyone.....

    can anyone help me please....
    i used to work for an agency and have just got six month contract with a company new job want my P45 but it is with the agency and i will still be doing shifts for them occasioanlly.
    does anyone know how i go about getting another P45 to my new employer who will be my main employer for next six months?

    you don't need a P45 to give the new company. Explain to them that you have not actually left your last employer and that they will be an additional employer. All you need to do is get the PAYE registration number from your new employer, then ring the tax office with it and your PPS no. They will then add the new employer onto your record and send a certificate of tax credits to the new employer. Make sure you tell the tax office that you will be employed by 2 companies, and stell them which one you want to be the 'main' employer.
    You will get a P60 from both employers at year end etc, but there is no reason why you can't be employed by two companies.

    anyway, as it is now 2010, a P45 from 2009 would no longer be of any use anyway! you only need the P45 if you change employment in the current year.
