Re-classification of CI racing licences

Apologies if this was already discussed.

What do people think of the new CI licence classification for racers. I'm not sure if it would be beneficial for someone like me, as I've seen some of the names who are classified at A4 and now I'm simply hoping to, at best, finish within the packs. There's are somes names that I would defintely have though they be in the A3 category, very strong cyclists.

I know there will always be some cyclists way stronger that the group they're in (due to injury for example) but from the few names I know, A4 is shaping up to be a very strong group.

I would have thought that Im a typical A4 cyclists and I was hoping to get a few placings for a change this year, but it's unlikely now. Maybe I'm overestimating myself here :D.

Or maybe it just a case of being patience and that it will take 2 or 3 years for it to fix itself.

Do you mind me asking where you saw this list? Have they got it up on Cycling Ireland somewhere? I can't seem to see it. Is there one for the other categories too or just A4. Thanks in advance :)

This is my first year with a full license and I was really expecting to get a few points early in the season with the new A4 category, but after seeing that list - no way is that gonna happen!

I think after a period of time it will work itself out though, with people upgrading... A4 should hopefully become a good category for people just coming in to the sport...

Doesnt matter who is on the list folks. Go out there and ride your balls off in races and training and what will be will be. You get out of this what you put in, so if you want to move up then you know what to do.... And remember strong cyclist does not always equal strong racer. I am as dumb as a rock when it comes to making decisions in races, but I have fond memories of winning a league race once despite being the very worst rider in it. Anything can happen out there on any given day, being strong just increases your odds of being part of it.

Touche ! If I could buy a race, I would indeed be owing a lot of people a lot of money I can tell you. On that occassion, which was my 3rd ever race, I wheelsucked all day, was dropped twice and was lucky to get a stall in the bunch to let me back with 1km to go at which point all the superstars were eyeballing each other and did not pay any attention when the furry legged fred that got dropped and finished in a different timezone the previous 2 weeks had a pop.

Some good timing, a little luck and an ability to read a race can go a long, long way. Sadly all notions I had of being the next Johan Bruyneel fell by the wayside the following week and have rarely re-surfaced.

Anyway back to the point - train harder you whingers ! :p
