Seems like the only 'English' player to be bought at this years IPL was Morgan. Good man Eoin.

Eoin Morgan was the only England player to be bought at the auction for the 2010 Indian Premier League.

The 23-year-old batsman will join the Royal Challengers Bangalore after being sold for a fee of £134,000.

Only 11 out of the 66 overseas players attracted successful bids, with England's Graeme Swann and all 11 Pakistan players left unsold.

Delighted cos last year my flatmate arrived home from S Africa with a Challengers jersey as a present (Seriously, out of all the teams he could have randomly picked, its a pretty minging jersey : ), So i ended up a begrudging fan (not a big pieterson fan) . Much happier about them this year now:)

Not surprised somebody signed him up. Some of the shots he plays in T20 are ridiculous, in a good way of course.

Surprised Swann didn't get a contract with the form he's been in. Also I dunno what the politics of boycotting the Pakistani players is, but it seems a bit of a waste to have people like Afridi and Gul not playing this year.

Does anybody know what channel the IPL will be on this year?

The article suggests problems securing permits/visas for them may be the issue.

What with the whole terrorism/Pakistan being fubar malarky.

Eoin Morgan was the only England player to be bought at the auction for the 2010 Indian Premier League.

Eoin is an Irishman, was born in Dublin [Eoin Joseph Gerard Morgan (born 10 September 1986 in Dublin) is an Irish cricketer] :-)
He may have repersented england but he is an Irishman,
Very happy for him, got $200,000 for 4 weeks of play, not bad,
Irish cricket will only improve by this kind of news and experience

    good luck Eoin,
    beside i like RC Bangalore,
the make of famous KINGFISHER BEER and FORCE INDIA FORMULA 1 TEAM :-)
and world class KINGFISHER AIRLINES (NO economy, all kingfisher class :-) ) only

We more or less all know that.
    But thanks all the same.

There is no issue with Eoin being described as an England player, because that is what he is.

They didn't descibe him as english, because he is not.

It's a good break for him and very well deserved too at that, but as a specialist batsman, he'll be up against Jaques Kallis, Ross Taylor, Kevin Peitersen not to mention competing with Roelog Van Der Merwe, Jesse Ryder, Dale Steyn, Mark Boucher to be one of the 4 non-indian members of the playing 11.

Kallis, Taylor and Mark Boucher are virtual certainities in the playing 11 while Jesse Ryder provides a good bowling option besides being an opener..

Would have been better if he'd gone to Rajasthan Royals or even to Chennai (Hussey won't be available for all the games) who did bid for him, might have a chance of more playing time..

Hopefully, he'll get to play a couple of matches

Some of the best 20-20 players are Pakistani's. The Indians did not select Pakistani's because fans will boycott and kick up a fuss due to artistic differences between the 2 countries. In the first IPL there was a team from Pakistan called 'Lahore Badshas' apologies for spelling but they are no more. Hopefully things will improve between the 2 countries. Time will tell

. In the first IPL there was a team from Pakistan called 'Lahore Badshas' apologies for spelling but they are no more. Hopefully

Get your facts right, that team was in ICL (Indian Cricket League), A tournmanent delibrately not recognised by BCCI.

IPL (Indian Premier League) is the official tournament from BCCI and approved by ICC and never had any pakistani team.
    the team in IPL are:

    KKR -Kolkata Night Riders
DC- Deccan Charges (From city if Hydrabad-India)
    DD- Delhi Daredevils
    Mumbai Indians
    Rajasthan Royals-From city of Jaipur
Kings XI Punjab - from city of Chandigarh
    Chennai SuperKings
    Bangalore Royal Challangers

two more new teams are being added and there is a rumor that one of Top5 English Premier League Club is bidding to buy one team.

Last but not the elast, the question was not on picking or not picking the pakistani players, there were only 11 slots available and due to the visa issues, no club would wanted to take the risk of spending $650,000 on one player who may or may not even turned up.

However on the other side, the initial 3 year contract is coming to an end in April and more than 200 slots will be available and this time, even the bigger players will also be available to move the club (Like Sachin was atatched to Mumbai, Ganguly for Kolkata initially), watch the space in July, there will be a hugh auction of all players including Pakistani players

Well todays superb performance against Bangladesh will have improved his chances of playing no end.
Especially with KP weighing in with another hefty No Show!
