Using USB headphones for in game audio on the PS3

    I am currently using my PS3 with a TV that has no headphone jack on it. :mad:

    I was wondering if anyone on this forum has been able to connect USB headphones to their PS3 and set them up so that they can hear all the in game audio through them i.e. the same way as if the headphones were connected to the TV??

    I have done some online searching for information on this and found mixed opinions on whether the in game audio can be heard in this manner. some people say it can whilst others seem to think that you can only connect USB headsets to the PS3 for talking and listening to other gamers whilst your playing certain games.

    Can anyone give me a definitive answer on this?

    Have you got this connection?

    if so stick the yellow connection into tv and the white and red can be connected to another cable see the image below its the cable at the botton white and red into to headphone female jack. You could probably get this handy enough in an electronics shop. Maplins probably best.

    The TV won't get any audio though.

    Just realised that this doesn't answer your questions about usb headphones.

    @JoeyJJ

    Cheers for the information. It might be a cheaper option than buying the USB Headphones.

    I do use that lead for my PS3 but then it goes into a SCART adapter. Will the SCART video still work if I unplug the two audio channels?

    Not sure but you could test, does your telly not have an av channel for the component cable? If it does just stick the yellow in and use the white and red for the audio.

    Should be a cheaper option especially if you have a set of headphones already.
