Best G36

    Hi folks,

I think I want to replace my G36C with a G36. The Ares version seems to have the most authentic sight... I'd rather not go with the export sight.

I could always modify my JG G36C with new front/barrel set and Ares carry handle (I assume this would work?!) but that would probably be more expensive than a brand new Ares G36... but JG internals appear to be better from what I've heard (aren't they?). I'm very happy with how my G36C is firing at the moment.

If I get a new G36 I can sell my G36C on... sounds like that is the most economical option... however, I think I'd have a better gun if I modify my G36C... but will the extra cost be worth it?

Probably all just academic... financial control probably won't let me buy more kit anyway :-)

I'd say the Ares one is probably the one to buy, the externals are very nice and the trades are good (fake bolt carrier is even metal not plastic like on a lot of models). That said, where my Star and Ares have the same external dimensions the furniture isn't 100% compatible with my CA so if you're thinking of swapping and switching beware.

I recently got their K model and the telescopic sight is far better than the CA equivalent (which is the only one I've got to compare to atm) with a little 20mm rail on top of it which I've stuck one of those itsy bitsy teeny weeny red dot things on (the rail does prevent you using the moulded fixed sights on the carry handle but it looks to be removable). I was using the c rail instead of a carry handle but I'm sufficiently pleased with the Ares unit that I'm going to be using it instead.

There are probably companies that do better internals but the Ares isn't bad and it has the bonus of having a quick change spring which makes mechbox work a lot less sproingy and irritating. One thing I did notice is that there's a slight difference in profile on the end of the hop-up unit so I would suggest always using the Ares hop-up unit in the Ares even if it means disassembling a premade barrel/hop setup to install it.

If you want to make your c longer you'll need to first check if the cylinder is ported, this can cause problems with longer barrels but on the other hand you could just buy a new cylinder for dirt cheap (and get a couple of nicer air bits to go with). You can buy Star and Ares handguards single on the internet but again I'd see if you can check fit first (even if it's only checking the c model handuard, it's the distance from the lower nub the handguard sits against and the hole into which the pin goes that matters).

    Thanks for that, Stonewolf.

Sounds like the Ares version is the way to go - whenever I'm let :-)

Hey if anybodys lookin for a new G17 you can e-mail me on this address:

    lemon.0111@hotmail.com

info- In perfect condition with magazine and magnesium slide comes with half a litre of green gas and in or around 2400 .2 g BB's. also included are the box and a funnel to load the magazine quickly.

you can contact me on the e-mail address above and we will discuss my whereabouts and the price. but for anyone intrested in the price I will not go below EUR70.00 as the gun, gas and BB's cost me EUR130.00 and it was only purchased it 3 months ago!

the only reason I'm trying to get rid of the gun is because it was not what I had expected and I soon after saw another gun and you know, recession and all, I can't really come up with the extra money to get the other gun.

There was nothing actually wrong with the gun, Its very powerful
(0.8 joule) AND IS A VERY NICE WEIGHT (730 G) BUT I JUST DIDN'T like it (like it wasn't really me, you know?) so if anyone's interested, contact me on the e-mail above.

You better put this in the adverts section buddy. But before you do read the advert rules cause you broke at least 2.

Just a heads up on the dual optic sight. I have the new Ares dual optics. While they have improved the 3.5x sight, the eye relief is better than the CA sights and the reticule is easier to read. The red dot sight on top is useless. Its a big red dot with no parallex correction, i.e it move around as you move you eye with is useless. It just like Ares MARS unit.

You could get the export sight with the 20mm rail and put the XM8 sight on it. Or if you want authentic, the German army with their new G36A2 have ditched the old red dot sight and have added a new Carl Zeis optic. I don't think there is an airsoft version of that yet.
