Google Street view - When?

I keep checking google maps just in case. France is nearly all done now, and Spain. Italy is catching up, and the UK is slowly growing.

But Ireland? nothing...

IS there any news, gossip, hearsay, rumour?

I have just been looking at the Google Earth street view of where I used to live - about ten kilometres outside Belfast.

More updates elsewhere on google street view. Denmark and large parts of sweden now covered, as well as the road from belfast to derry.

Cant be long now before places in the republic start to appear.

And did you check out the UK (including NI)?

They've added a few more cities and curiously a large number of national trust properties (that include pathways and lanes that are certainly not car accessible so they must be using the bike mounted data collector.)

You can move around Stonehenge now for instance.

I saw a Google Street View car in Castlebar at the end of October 2009, and I heard they've been seen in Dublin weeks before, it can't be much longer before some of this material goes online.

Irish techno-geeks may have to wait yet another year for Google's much-hyped Street View initiative after the company admitted a launch in Ireland is "not imminent". Although Google representatives spent more than a week last year driving through Dublin and filming local streets, the company confirmed to the Sunday Tribune that the images would not be seen any time soon. "Google hopes to launch Street View in Ireland in future," a spokeswoman said. "However, no definitive launch date is available at present."

On many border roads, streetview extends a few metres into the Republic.
