    Hi,

My Brother Chris is embarking on a road trip around western Africa at the end of January. He is doing this to raise awareness and much needed funds for the work that the Irish charity GOAL is doing in that region. He has already run many fundraising events for the cause and still a few more between now and the end of January. One such event is a poker tournament in the Voodoo card club along the quays in Dublin city.

    [IMG][/img]chefsafricanroadtrip.jpg

The game is a €50 freezeout +€15. All the €50's will go into the prizepool and we are expecting between 60 to 100 players on the night so a great prize pool.

The Voodoo card club have very generously offered to cover the expense of supplying dealers for all tables and I know Chris is very apreciative of this very kind gesture. This means that the entire €15 from each players reg fee will go directly to the cause.

The game has a 10,000 chip starting stack. Blind levels are 30mins for 1st five levels and then 25mins for the remainder of the tournament. This is a great structure for this buy in.

We really hope to get close to 100 runners and this will only happen if it gets your support. Can you please put this in your poker diary and make the effort to come along. Please support this very worthy cause. It really does promise to be a great game with a fantastic structure and good prize money and all for a very good cause.

    22. Are there any cash games offered, if so, please outline the rake for each limit offered. Yes. 5% rake capped at €20

The cash game rake in the club is 5% but it is capped at €10. Even if there are multiple side pots we will only ever take a maximum of €10 per hand.
We have looked at the way we rake our cash games and if broken down to an hourly rate it is the cheapest rake in any club.

Everybody at Voodoo is looking forward to this event. We are expecting the club to be full on the night as the buy-in and structure is such great value.
We applaud Chris for his efforts in raising awareness for such a worthy cause and hope many from the poker community turn up to support him and GOAL in what will be an extremely challenging endeavour.

(This is the new me..... my email address with boards is well and truly dead)

Thanks to all the staff in the Voodoo lounge for a great night. It has to be the best value tourny in the world for €50! Think they are making this a weekly so anybody out there trying to develope their game for the 'bigger' tournies/festival's, this is a perfect nursery..... Good luck to Chris on his trip.

Didn't make it in for this last night, something cropped up and couldn't go, i really hope this got a good turnout and was an enjoyable game.

Was a great game with 49 runners. Fair bit raised for charity and good craic all round. Ladies dominated the final placings with 4 of last 6 being female I think! Vera placed and winner was voodoo regular Sinead. Willie (Yuletired??) got 2nd.

A good option to have for future Fridays with this being added to the schedule.

Just to echo the sentiments, but the value for money is terrific for such a buy in. The club has a really good atmosphere to play in and you're always well looked after by the staff. Will definately be in again soon. Well done Willie, had a felling you would go deep after the antics at our table. The only slight annoyance was 9 got paid from a field of 49, maybe this was because it was a charity game. Still a great night and looking foward till next weekend. Mick

Thanks to everyone who showed up and supported Chris and GOAL last night.

The feedback from the players was good and as such Friday nights game has now been changed to make this a regular feature.
The structure is probably the best value you'll get for €60.
10k stack, half hour blinds for 3 levels going to 25 mins after the break.

We had 49 runners last night and I think could have had more except for the problems Boards had experienced over the last couple of days. Great to see everything back. Well done to the Boards team for the way they handled the situation.

Everyone there had a great night, with the final table dominated by the ladies from the club. Sinead Fox came out on top after a heads up battle with Willie (Yuletired). Another innuendo for you Willie;).

;) say no more, that was fun. got heads up with the chip lead about 6 am ish, my flopped 2 pair rivered by a flushdraw to cripple me, meh hands played themselves, great night, the charity got a good few bob as well as half of the last longest so fair play to all. Its kind of easy to to well in a tourny when yer quads are bet into. :D:D a fun game with a cool pub beside it.
