the sip looks to be a bottom end of the market welder . youd be better off to spend a bit more and get a murex butters etc.

Have you access to bottles for the argoshield?

AFAIK you have to have an account with BOC or the likes to be able to rent and exchange bottles.

You can of course use the fluxed wire instead of using gas, but this is a lot more expensive.

and you have to pay i think 120 euros per year rent for the bottle plus the cost of the fill which is about 85 euros.
i have an argoshield bottle plus oxygen and acetylene bottles and the rent alone is about 350 euros per year plus the cost of fills.
the bottle rent seems like a get rich quick scheme for boc, air products

sip is fine just under rated , i use murex and esab good welders too , but if i was buying a welder for my own use at home i'd buy the sip nothing wrong with them

Have a Draper one at home, nothing particulary wrong with it but I reckon there are better ones out there. We only had it a month and it broken down and couldn't be fixed, so the shop gave us another one, Also it did give its fair share of problems with the wire feed mechanism, which was eventually sorted be some home modification...... so in case you were thinking of it, I wouldn't reccomend that brand anyway

according to a user of the sip ideal the circut board is liable to go as they are a weak point and cost a lot of money to replace.
they are cheap for a reason and there are far superior welders to be got for a bit more money. you get what you pay for.

    Fixed;)

A sip welder is fine unless your going to be doing a lot of welding.

Try Caulfields in Galway (091) 795000/www.caulfieldindustrial.com. They have specialist welding advisors who will tell you everything you need to know. (No obligation to purchase or anything like that). They also supply every conceivable type of welding product you can imagine and are main agents for welding products from SIP, Esab, Murex, Butters, Parweld, Draper, 3M etc.
