the road into bunclody from kiltealy is half closed due to damage but there working on it .

the good this about the amount of damage done is they will have to replace it all not just patch.

Hopefully - it's popular with all sorts, particularly tourists, so hopefully they'll do a decent job on it and put a nice smooth tarmac on it.:D

Looks reminiscent of Sicily after the flooding, I was touring there just after the floods in the autumn.

    Road Warning

Part of road totally washed away between Waterfall and Liam Horner monument....... and a VERY DODGEY repair job done on it....Be careful.....as for the rest of my spin this morning extreme caution required especially on faster sections.

thats a long stretch of road. Can you be more specific where the bad spots are?

    are the damaged patches passable?

was gonna head up that way at the weekend. Would be good to know what to expect.

    cheers.

Its about half way if I can remember correctly but as I said it pothole central most of that road .....you will see it in time it has cones etc ... and yes its passable with due care

Any potholes are likely to get worse with increasing traffic over them. The ice will probably have penetrated further into the road surface, resulting in a quicker break-up of what is left. Hence somewhere you think is "OK" or "passable" now, may not stay so for long

Obviously the worst of the roads will be dealt with as a matter of priority. However as public spending is cut back further, they may take short-cuts, and some of the "lesser evils" may get no attention for a while. I suspect, therefore, that this is something we may have to live with for some time (not that we had many high-quality roads in the first place!)

    great, thanks for that.

How high did you head? Is Sally Gap clear yet do you know?

I'd imagine some sections of road there, if clear, are in an horrendous state.

No... whimped out and took right into Glencree the air temp dropped significantly and there must be at least 1 ft of snow on verges around glencree still ..so.. I can only imagine what the gap is like......Roads are actually clear for the mostpart
