    hi there

i was wondering if anyone had their house energy assessed and could recommend someone? was thinking of gettting the house assessed just to see if there was anything (that wouldn't cost so much!) that i could do to cut down heating costs.
or does anyone know how much this assessor would cost or if there is a free of charge way of getting it done?

    Any help much appreciated.

    thanks

Check out www.greenmanenergy.ie It's a local Waterford company that should be able to help you. I'm not sure of the costs involved but I think you may be able to get a grant. I haven't had my own house assessed but I know the owner of green man energy through other business and he is very professional.

    Hi,
This link brings you to a thread on the Bargain Alerts forum regarding free ESB energy surveys.

We had one done recently (we're not ESB customers, you don't have to be).

The survey is free & you get a written report sent to you with suggestions about improvements you could make, and any grants available.

We applied for the survey before Christmas & the guy came about a week and a half ago. We still have to get the report.

    Hope this helps :)

Give this guy a call and he should be able to give you a good heads up on what's involved, and what the costs are.

    These guys are pretty good.

I got my done for free a good while back cause I know them :D

I'd go with the freebie mentioned above by fishy first, but if you want a more intense assessment done then you will have to pay for it.

I put in extra layer of insulation in the attic last year and I'm now thinking of getting a stove. Something like the small Stanley Oisin (http://www.waterfordstanley.com/Products/965.htm)
I know so many people who have stoves and swear by them. The amount of heat emitted with very little fuel used is well worth it.
