A number of shots were fired at members of the emergency services in Donnybrook in Dublin early this morning.

A fire engine, attending a small fire at Beech Hill Villas, was shot at with what is thought to have been an air rifle just before 1am.

The fire engine was hit a number of times and has been taken off the road while the damage is inspected.

Gardaí were also attending the scene at the time the shots were fired.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.

i don't understand attacking fire or ambulance people. i really don't. i can't understand scum attacking the gardai because it's there job to put them away, but really ... i don't get it. bah ..
