Hi guys, wondering can anybody help me with this issue. I am currently trying to obtain a russian homestay visa. I have a friend who is currently working in russia on a work visa. He is not a russian citizen, and has only been in the country less than a year. Can he send me a letter of invitation or is he authorised to do so?

Any hotel will do it for you if you stay in one.
I'd be surprised if a letter from a non russian citizen will suffice but would guess any friend of your pal's who is a russian might do.
Theres an embassy in Ireland who will clarify.

Homestay visas are much more hassle than normal tourist ones. You might want to consider getting a normal visa. Instead of an invitation from someone in Russia, you need one from a travel agency - there is even one in Dublin specializing in that. Once in Russia, you go to one of the places that handle visa registration and register there.

Cheers for the replies, gave the embassy a ring but tbh i might aswell have been tlkin to the wall. Think Im just gona get the tourist visa one and just book into a hostel.
