    Hi

My uncle has a virus on his PC which i am trying to get rid of. (typing this off my work laptop!)

I actually have Anti virus software which i need to activate from my hotmail account but his PC wont let me do this.

is there a way to unblock sites so that i can download the anti virus software.

I did manage to download it yesterday however i was unable to do the final step of opening it on the desktop and activating it as everything has disappeared from the desktop

    can anyone help?

    Thanks

I suggest downloading it on your (uninfected) pc, then copy the file onto a CD or other medium and transfer it to the infected pc.

As well as the antivirus, I also suggest you download malwarebytes anti-malware software - it's free and very effective at removing non-virus infections.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Edit: If you can't see it on the desktop, try running the programs from the disk. Ctrl Alt and Del will get you to task manager, then select New Task (Run) from the File menu, and type in D:\filename.exe where D is the address of the disk drive and filename is, well, the filename.

    Hi

Ok so i downloaded the 6 bits of software advised in one of the stickeys onto my work laptop and in turn onto a CD
    Comedian
    TFC
    Malware
    Super anti Spyware
    Hijack this

I've run Comedian exe on my work laptop and screen come up with instructions but this wont come up on the problem PC

When i try and Run TFC as administrator it says " Windows cannot access the specified path /file you may not have the aprropriate permissions to access the item"

the same comes up for MBAm set up

can anyone help? this is driving me silly!

    try this

    Download this programme

Drag each of the exe files that you are unable to run into Inherit.exe.

Then wait for it to say "OK"

    try this

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.
    • Disable any script blocking protection
    • Double click dds.pif to run the tool.
    • When done, two DDS.txts will open.
    • Save both reports to your desktop.

Please include the contents of the following in your next reply:

    DDS.txt
    Attach.txt.

if it fails, rename it to svchost.com and run it in safe mode

rename mbam.exe to something different (new_file1.exe did it for me) and try to run it then.
I might need to read your first post again, but you could try the same in safe mode - it should work.
