Revenue Cheque

I got my tax back in the post today and I'm just wondering if I can go to any bank of Ireland to get it cashed? (It's a B.O.I. cheque) I know usually you'd have to go to the branch but since it's from revenue will I be alright?

With the state the finances are in I would not be so sure.:)

As far as I know, you will still have to wait for it to clear once lodged to your account. I believe all cheques have to be lodged to your account unless it is from the issuing branch. This will then take 5 days to clear.

To get it cashed you would need to go to the branch of the bank that it is drawn down on.
Any other case, even taking a BOI cheque to a BOI branch, they won't cash it.

I got tax back recently and cashed it in TSB no problem. It took 5 working days to clear but that's pretty standard.

Thanks for the replies. Turns out I have to wait 5 working days, BOI just gave me a standard reply.

You can get cash instantly in college green boi.

Not true. College green will not cash cheque. Cheque should be lodged to account bearing the name on the cheque.
