    Hi,

I am interested in a "trailer-bike", you know the single wheel bike that I can attach to my bike so I can bring my 5 year old along for cycles with the older memers of the family. A couple of questions!!

    1. has anyone used these before and what are the experiences please?
    2. If anyone has one that they have grown out of, I would be intersted in perhaps a purchase of same.

This is a link to the type of item that i am intesested in.

    Thanks Bob.

I am thinking of getting one of these myself and have been researching online.
General consensus seem to be that the seatpost mounted cheaper ones are not great-

The ones that mount to a hitch on a rack are more stable and child shifting weight around does not cause the adult bike to wobble as far as I can gather.

I have decided on this one-

Its a bit expensive but Islabikes stuff is good (we already have one of their bikes and getting a second soon)) and holds its value well so overall cost of ownership is not that much more. They are, apparently, much better than the seat mounted types-so are likely to get used more I reckon.

The Islabikes look nice, but way out of my league on costs. I was looking at the seatpost ones, but they seemed a bit big for my 6-year-old. Have you seen any smallish ones of these?

This is another twist. It allows you to use a regular bike, so the kid can cycle on their own in the park, etc and they 'hook up' for the trip home.

I had and still have this for sale. It provides for connection of an existing childs bike to yours.

Tag-a-Long are a great way of introducing and teaching kids. Not sure about the carrier mounted one I would have thought it would have a high wobble factor. perhaps not. Our one has a seat post quick release fitting. One essential for younger passengers is a rear view mirror on the pilots bike. Also don't attempt to long a journey kids tend to nod off when they get tired cycling. We often attached the tag-a long to the tandem, sure to bring a smile to face of passers-by
