The headlights on my Passat are really terrible, I'm thinking of buying some new bulbs, dipped and full, in hopes that they'll improve. Are bulbs such as the Osram Nightbreakers and Silverstar's worth that extra few quid, ie. do they really give longer and brighter beams ?

    short answer: yes

long answer: do a search, there have been several threads already

really long answer: get them properly aligned as well (and cleaning the lenses probably won't do any harm either after this weather)

Thanks, the lights are a pain to do anything with in these but a clean should help :)

Quickest way to know is to google reviews, e.g http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&q=osram+nightbreakers+review
Personally I have used Nightbreakers and like them.

As above, but dont expect Xenon level performance.

Just ordered the Nightbreakers, anything would be an improvement with what I have now.

Just remember that the Nightbreakers have a shorter life span than standard halogen bulbs. The light is good from them though.
