    Hi thinking of heading to Prague for 3 days next month. Just wondering from people who have been how much money would be enough for 3 days.

    Middle of the range lunch, dinner & drinks etc x 3?

    I know its hard to give an estimate but a ball park figure would be great.

    Thanks!

    5100 Koruna (200 euro) should be more than enough.
    Beer (0.5 ltr) costs 35 to 45 koruna depending on which brand, Pilsner Urquell is the more expensive.
    Meals should be cheaper in your hotel than in eating out in the city, meal prices vary the further out from city you are, 200-300czk, 300-400czk, 400-500czk. The last one is for eating in the city centre. Entrance to the castle, tram prices are all reasonable, tram service is really good which puts the luas here to shame!

    It should be enough money unless you are planning on heading out every night to have a good few drinks then bring more :)

    Hi,

    Depends which part of town you go. The tourist(y) area will be alot more expensive. Also the type and area of your hotel varies from as little as 30 euro a night for a basic hostel to as much as 120 euros a night for a more upmarket hotel. Around christmas time Jurys in the centre were charing 59 euros a night, which is pretty reasonable.

    Eating out is cheaper than Ireland, but considered expensive for the czech republic. A lunch including a drink(beer or wine) will come to about 250 czech crowns which equates to about ten euros. Dinner will generally be a bit more expensive, though of course it depends where you go.

    Beer in prague will cost between 35 and 60 crowns(about 1 euro 20 to over 2 euros), again depending on the area. Have a look at the menu before you order and do not pay over 60 crowns.

    Transport around the city is very esy and quite cheap, a day long tram/bus/metro ticket will cost about 100 crowns(if my memory serves me!), which is 4 euros.

    SO to sum up:

    Hotel = 60
    Lunch for 3 days = 30
    Dinner for 3 days = 40
    transport = 20

    I would say you would want to have about 200 for the three days.

    Word of warning though, prague airport is ridiculously expensive. More so than Dublin if you can believe it. Average price of a beer is 150 crowns or 6 euro, and a cup of coffee is about 100 or 4 euro. So either have money to cover costs like this on you, or get somehting before you arrive at the airport.

    If you have any other questions, feel free to ask here or PM me.

    Amazing we both came to the same number. I think that shows its a pretty accurate estimate.

    Yes. Its cold. Pretty much hovering around 0 at the moment, though it is a 'dry' cold, not damp like Ireland, so does not feel that bad. The last time I was in Prague it was just before Christmas and was -20 degrees, but to be honest didn't feel bad at all. I would suggest a decent jacket, a thinsulate hat and gloves, and you will be grand.

    There will still be snow on the ground, possibly even a snowfall while your there(if your lucky).

    Everywhere you go will have the heating on, so dont go mad with your layers, because everytime you go inside you will have to remove everything.

    I was there for the New Year, great celebrations for it on Charles' bridge (be prepared for a lot of pedestrians on this bridge due to renovations!) and in the Old Town square. Be prepared for the cold on the first day, was almost -10 degrees so takes a while to get used to temperature but it improved a small bit a few days after.

    On the topic of beer, we wandered off once to see how much locals pay at the smaller pubs outside the busy center. The cheapest we found was 17.50 koruna (about 50 cent at the time) for a pint. You can easily reach places that cheap by just taking the metro a few stops out. But be prepared to have to order in Czech. You will be outside the tourist area.

    Jurys have a special on for 59 euros for the room per night. You might want to check the site.

    Prices and quality levels can vary quite alot in Prague. From 40 euros for a dingy hostel to about a 100 a night for a 4 star. 59 seems like quite a good deal.

    As for sights, the entire city is a sight in my opinion. Even the Metro is worth going on.
