Ubuntu Help with Mobile Broadband needed

Simply put, I need something to replace the Meteor Broadband to Go Program. Something I can monitor my bandwidth usage and send SMS from. I have tried to get the Vodaphone ap working but to no avail. Anyone able to help me? :confused:
