I have a samsung fridgefreezer for about a year now. Over the time of owning it, it has become noisier and the compressor seems to be on for around half the time. so in an hour the compressor could be on for 30 mins.

I know this is a vague question, but has anyone had a similar isssue ? I think I will call the engineer out, im just seeing what others experiences are.

Howya Smoggy, I had a Samsun American Fridge Freezer. (Bough it in PC) After about a year it gave trouble. And if I remember rightly I could hear the compressor coming on from Upstiars. The problem with them is that Dimpco do not deal with the maintenance direct. That is done by Samsung. And in my case After it broke down the second time I told them to take it back. They refused saying that it had to break down 3 times. The machine duly obliged and I got rid of it. Had a similiar problem with one of their plasma t.v's. We know have and LG FF (This is to be Doing Fine and then we got a Hitachi T.V. replacement for the samsun). So if you are calling out the engineer make sure you note the phone number you use for the call out and any reference numbers in case you have to go back to get it changed if the warranty has not run out. Ask if a new warranty starts when the engineer has been at the machine. Hope this helps.

I'm going to move this to Home Appliances (until it becomes a Consumer Issue).

there is ongoing problems with the defrost cycle on these fridges.Samsung have admitted the problem and have even been on bbc watchdog.the noise is ice build up hitting off the fan.there is a modification for it and as long as your fridge is not too old there should be a free of charge replacement. you need to contact Samsung.its a low call number in the phone book, their call centre is in Scotland but they use contract engineers here.or you could also contact your retailer
