So just to clarify.... The game that was to act as a Gears Of War alternative for PS3 users (grand, sure, fine, if you must).. is now going to be marketed and launched for the Xbox 360, also.

I cannot stop laughing. I see more differences between Pacman and Ms Pacman. How have they not already been sued?

wtf??? texturing and bump mapping looks rubbish.

Is that alpha footage or something?

I don't have a problem with it copying GeoW. It's a gameplay style that works so why not copy it. Stylistically it looks like a cross between GeoW and Dark Sector. Same with Dantes Inferno, it may be a shameless GoW clone, but I don't care in the end of the day if it works and the game is solid.

No wonder it is not PS3 exclusive. It will probably bomb spectactularly.

Never heard of it - which is the first sign that it's a pile of crap. Second sign is that video, of course. That's meant to PROMOTE the game? It's a blatant GoW rip-off, which as was said, is fine. But don't rip something off if you can't at least attempt to improve on it. Otherwise we'll be far more unforgiving in our critiques of it.

There's developing a game that's heavily influenced by another game, and then there is this.

Saint's Row 2 was a very good alternative to GTA IV and the similarities were running very high, but they didn't steal the art style, exact movement and (this I can only presume) an identical cover system and control layout.

All this aside, it's the fact that they have decided to release it on the 360 that gets me. It will be torn apart.

Worst game I played in a long while. It's just bad.

Almost took a punt on it. Close call by the sounds. I totally forgot I started this thread.

    Jesus, Destructoid were right.

As for the game itself, it was never looking too promising regardless of what platform it was coming out on. It was basically a Japanese attempt at appealing to Western audiences without fully understanding it.As the game’s character designer, Hiroyuki Yazaki said in an interview in Edge awhile back...
“Thirdperson shooters aren’t so popular in Japan, but if we try to pitch the game in a way that a Japanese audience will better understand, we could alienate the western audience. It’s a balancing act… We need to present it to the Japanese audience in a different way. We have to focus on story and characters, which a Japanese player might value more than a western player.”

Would it have been reviewed by many Xbox magazines or Xbox only gamers as a PS3 exclusive, do you think? It faces so much more scrutiny as a multiplatform because now there will be so many more people, especially ones who play Gears drawing negative attention to it. I thought you might have known what I was getting at, Gizmo, what with you knowing everything.

Why would an XBox orientated magazine review a PS3 exclusive? And why would it being reviewed by a wider group of gamers matter? Surely one would hope for the most amount of coverage possible for a game upon release?

As I said, surely it's a good thing it faces more scrutiny?

Your wording was quite clear so it was impossible to misconstrue your statements above, even if you want to resort to childish insults along the way.

It is. I was just pointing out how it will be torn apart more.

You're right. My apologies. I should have been more grown up and had a pop via a link or something.

Anyway I'd rather PLAY Quantum Theory than keep this up. Good luck.

That's actually correct so far, the lowest score it's gotten according to good 'ol metacritic is from the official XBox mag.

It wasn't so much a pop as what you said just reminding me of the sentiments expressed in that article and how silly they were. If you didn't mean it that way then you don't need to worry about it. :)

Likewise, just incase you are worrying in your own way about the burdens and pressures you might face being identified as some who knows everything, worry not, what I said was just reactionary.

I can see now how Quantum Theory is now no longer the PS3's dirty little secret and gamers from both relevant platforms can stand next to each other in the mocking of this useless game.

    ...that I haven't played yet.

I'll save you the money stay away from it. I reckon it was a Ps3 exclusive, sony saw it and said we'll be nice make it multi-platform, saying in the bakc of thier minds thank god we did'nt get lumped with that.

Its just a frustrating game, typical gruff character with the personality of a plank, still don't know what was happening plot\story wise, unexplained character turns, slowest reload time ever, annoying controls. And what is with the japanese and bosses that have multiple forms, everytime you beat it, aha now try this!!, ugh!!, it was like watching a DBZ multi episode fight, except it was crap.

The multiple forms stuff is great in something like Vanquish. Quantum Theory just sucks in general. I couldn't be bothered going 20 feet from where I started in the demo.
