Coin Nudging Arcade Machines

I'm not sure what the actual name for these machines are - the ones where you put in a coin and it lands on a moving platform in the hope that it will nudge more coins off the edge, which you win.

Anyway, I'm looking to buy one. Could anyone tell me what they're actually called and where I might buy one?

    Thanks!

I thought by 'coin nudging' you meant going up to one of these coin machines and nudging it so they'd fall off the shelf without putting money in! It was an art in itself.

I remember my cousin did this once in Fun Palace Bray and an alarm went off. We legged it out of the place.

As for sourcing one, I'd imagine it would be very difficult in Ireland. Normal videogame arcade cabinets are hard enough to find.

You might have to try and give a local arcade a ring or something similar.

I've always called them "2p machines" - and a quick Google suggests that this is a very common name - but I've also heard the term "coin cascade." It was probably just someone being fancy.

Those machines were never the same when the euro came in.
I love going to seaside in england, heaven for me is 2 or 3 pounds in 2ps and some of those machines.

Id say you could source one ok, an arcade closing down or really should be able to get one from england. Best of luck

I remember going around them all as a kid trying to find money which fell, it often did. I actually used to have a recurring dream where I would find loads of money in the holder thing and would have pockets brimming with them.

OMG OMG LOL!!! Make sure and post if you locate one Siscri- I used to get total coin rage, man, down in the bray arcades. More than once I've been booted out and barred for trying to tilt the machines. Those big old 2ps used to teeter on the brink like they were giving you the finger; TOTAL cocktease... I was chased down the strand by one of the arcade managers once, the fat lummox tripped and broke a tooth! Best day EVER... :D

    What about building your own?

I think you mean the old "Shove Penny", still plenty of those around but suggest you try for a copy of "Worlds Fair" (a newspaper about 50P) which does run adds for this type of stuff. (fyi they are not the smallest piee of kit). cheers

Hey Siscri- any joy on the above??? Came across a SERIOUS stash of shrapnel just now searching for a pen! Can't face the dirty looks at the supermarket checkout, so thought you could use it to roadtest your slot LOL! :D

Yeah they're generally called coin pushers in the industry. I quite like them but couldn't really see the appeal of having one at home. You'd probably lose less money though. :D

    LOL at Sashwash.
